I don’t know if I’m indecisive. Actually, I’m pretty decisive. I’m just not a planner, as you well know by now. However, I have been planning the centerpieces for a while and have completed a few mock ups.

A little while back I had an hour to kill in the oppressive 90 degree heat. I had this nagging little voice that was telling me to go to the Christmas Tree Shop.

The thought just popped in my head without invitation, so I thought I should listen to it. I couldn’t find a CTS anywhere close to where I was, but I did find a TJ Maxx. I got as far as the parking lot and decided against going inside. Zeb would kill me if I went shopping, and whenever I go into TJ Maxx or Marshall’s, I get myself in trouble or have to hide my purchase in the closet, which of course I never get away with for long. I put my blinker on to leave and that nagging thought said to me, “go inside, you want to, you really really want to.”

So, I listened.

I parked my car and look up to the shining beacon of shop heaven that is TJ Maxx and saw a Home Goods right. next. door. Oh yeah baby, I felt it. I knew it: at that moment, I was going to find something for the wedding. I didn’t even grab a cart for fear of jinxing my unfounded good fortune.

I moseyed on into the back and gingerly went through the racks looking for drinking glasses, and card holders, and other things I can just buy for the wedding. I came to the last aisle—you know the one—ridden with goods not even the discount store wants to deal with anymore, and I found them. What did I find? 10, yes 10, beautiful, colorful, different, glass vases. But don’t you need 30? Yes ma’am I do. I bought that shit faster than you can say decapitated.

I put my goods into my car, and hiked my ass next door to Home Goods. I didn’t grab a cart again for fear of jinxing it. There within the first five steps I took, I found 13 more vases and bowls! I could not believe my incredible fortune. After a painfully long checkout and wrapping session I placed them gingerly into my car and prepared for the long ride home. I was like Gollum protecting “my precious”—you should have seen me. I was driving grandma-style down the highway, leaving the actually allotted number of cars between me and the next person. Lord help anyone who swerved a little to close to my fresh booty. They are home safe now, overtaking the sewing room. This wedding is slowly taking over my life. I don’t even have room to sew anymore.

I figure each table will have a similar centerpiece to one or two other tables. Some will require a little extra pizzazz and some can just hang out at the table as-is. I can’t wait to see them all hanging out at the Bilty. So excited.

Did you purchase or rent your centerpieces? If you bought them, what do you plan to do with it all after the wedding?

That.is.awesome!! I loved a good wedding find for sure. We bought all the stuff for our centerpieces, and a few people took them home and the rest we have around our house and are trying to figure out what to do with the rest. Its nice to walk into someones house and see stuff from the wedding :)

I love me some Home Goods/Marshalls/TJ Maxx–I’ve been hitting them up periodically over the Summer for lanterns and vases! I just scored nearly all of the frames I’m going to need for table numbers! Congrats on your find!

My mom and I have been collecting cobalt blue glass for a few months now; I’m going to start working on grouping them together to create our centerpieces. I love that each table will look a little different - I think that’s so unique and a great conversation piece! I would check out Salvation Army and Goodwill stores for more glass pieces - I’ve found some GORGEOUS stuff there for as low as 99 cents each :)

I second the Goodwill and Salvation Army suggestion. You’d be amazed at how much you can find there! I am slowly putting together our candy buffet with finds from those stores - as well as TJ Maxx/Home Goods.

Miss Zebra, I just have to tell you how hilarious you are! I just love reading your posts!

We got some good finds last night at Ikea. And Stein Mart is also a great place to look for deeply discounted decor!

That’s so awesome! I know what you mean about amazing wedding finds.

I’ve known I wanted to do blue mason jars for a while. I love antique-y things, I already collect glass bottles and jars, and there was something about the elusive blue Ball Perfect Mason that just grabbed me when I would see it in the blogs.

I informed my family that I was hunting them (I had about 15 then) because my dad has a knack for getting people to give him old things.

Less than 2 weeks later, my older sister found 52 for $18 at a Salvation Army where she lives. Considering that they normally sell for anywhere from $2 to $10 (and up) EACH, I hit the jackpot.

Congrats on your find! They look beautiful, and it will certainly be a gorgeous wedding with all that color :)

Ohmygosh those are incredible!! What a great find! :) …We also are planning for 30 tables, I’ll be renting vases for half of them (floating candles/glass beads/sunken flower) and DIY-ing the other half w/ some kickin’ ribbon pomanders atop a flipped wine glass. :) I’m so excited to see them all in their places!! …Btw I bet you will have NO problems selling those vases post-wedding!

I’m lucky that my venue includes the use of centerpieces. They’re simple but pretty. Since the place doesn’t need that much decorating to be begin with, I’ve decided to use them and save money that way.

But I really like the idea of doing different centerpieces than just the standard flowers.

I love the colors!!! What a great combination!
@Misscoffee: We’re also in the cobalt blue glass group. :) We’ve been gathering vases for the centerpieces since we got engaged, and we got 60 cobalt blue glass votive holders off craigslist too!

@lovelii: The guilt is bad… but not as bad as getting caught. That sucks haha.

@misscoffee: I didn’t even think about Salvation Army. That is an excellent suggestion!

@SuperShopper: You need to send me a picture when they are finished. The pomador/wine glass CP’s sound fantastic!

@MUI831: I am hoping to avoid flowers at all costs. The less flowers I purchase the more clothes shopping at Marshalls after the wedding. :)
