Like quite a number of couples before us, Mr E and I decided to use our engagement photos as part of a guestbook that we created through Blurb.

We were pleasantly surprised with the quality and the speed of delivery (considering it has to come all the way to NZ), and, even better, we got a 20% discount. Score!

It isn’t just a photo book, though. We wanted to combine Mr E’s love for photography with my love for words, so throughout the book we also placed some of our favourite quotes on love and marriage.

(guests will leave their messages in the white spaces)

The Gandhi quote above is placed at the beginning of the book, because it is probably my all-time favourite.

I have collected quotes that inspire me or have made me go “ahh!” for as long as I can remember, so I thought I would share the other quotes we included, just in case some of you are suckers for a good quote like I am:

In addition to those, we had more writing printed on each flap of the dustcover: “Pathways” by Rainer Maria Rilke, and an excerpt by George Eliot.

I really like this idea. I have not collected romantic quotes, but I have a journal from college that I started with just random quotes that I love. I like how you’re non traditional guestbook, will end up like a coffee table book that can be read over and over again.

Beautiful book, beautiful couple.

This is really not important because what matters is that you like the quote…but the English major in me had to just say that the love quote is not from Shakespeare.

Yea! I love this post! I’m working on our book right now and I love that idea since I didn’t want it to just be all photos.

I love that you shook the whole engagement-photo-guestbook thing up a bit with the quotes. Guests will also be able to figure out where to sign much more easily.

@camrie: go ahead and “steal” some. I bet your guestbook will turn out great!

we chose the standard landscape: 10 x 8 in. Not too big, not too small, and it was affordable

Your guest book is gorgeous - I might borrow this idea for ours! While my all-time favorite quote isn’t strictly romantic, it IS about true love:

We are doing a blurb book for our guest book as well. We are doing pictures and then copies of letters/notes we have written to each other during our relationship. I think we might throw in some love quotes too after seeing yours!

@icelara: hmm i think it was 3 weeks- one week for it to be printed, and then 2 weeks to ship. We’re in NZ though so it took longer than it would if u are in the USA.

My FI and I were both English majors and so we are having a literary theme for our wedding.
For our table numbers we are using Author’s names along with a quote from one of their works.
A few of my favs:
Dickinson: “Where thou art, that is home.”
Bronte: ”Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
Tolstoy: ”He felt now that he was not simply close to her, but that he did not know where he ended and she began.”
Thoreau: “There is no remedy for love than to love more.”

Oh goodness…I could go on and on! I swoon over quotes like these.
