Songs of the Ceremony

September 14th, 2010 @ 5:09 pm by Ms. Sloth

Music is extremely important to Mr. S and me. I’ve already spent considerable time on my massive (84GB and counting) iTunes playlist, determining which songs are ceremony-worthy, which are perfect for the cocktail hour and dinner, and which are best for the par-tay.

We’re thinking that, for the ceremony, we’ll play some soft, pretty instrumental music. When I actually walk down the aisle, I want “Victoria’s Secret” by Quiet Village to be playing. Here’s what it sounds like:

Here are a few more I think we may have agreed on:

Tristeza - “Building Peaks”

Sigur Rós - ’’Starálfur’’

Explosions in the Sky - “Your Hand in Mine”

What kind of music will you have during your ceremony? Are you hiring a live musician or having recorded songs?

Whew, I need to go through my iTunes list too, I’ve been putting it off for so long. I have to admit, I know none of these songs, perhaps you will be introducing your guests to some cool new music? We are sticking with very safe, family-friendly singalong hits because… actually, I don’t know why. I guess its because our wedding is so UNtraditional we want touches of familiarity?

I LOVE Staralfur but haven’t thought about it in years.. Thanks for bringing it back into my life, Sloth!! I think it would be perfect for a ceremony.

We are the same way! My fiancee seriously has ours catorgerized by mood and feel of each part of the night. We have a lot of music playing in our ceremony too and hope it doesn’t bore people, but we really are just THAT into music. I’m walking down the isle to “Us and Them” by Pink Floyd. We also have Iron and Wine, The Moldy Peaches, Dead Man’s Bones, and the Foo Fighters playing. We wanted to have our first dance to a montage of 3 songs but my fiancee stated he thought that was a bit excessive. So were just sticking with Berlin “Take My Breath Away”.

these are are so beautiful! “Your Hand in Mine” is my favorite from this post. We are going to have live musicians during the ceremony - keyboard and violin.
