Mrs. Elephant, Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 27, Financial Operations Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, IT Student/Store Manager Engagement Date: March 29, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: The Tribute Golf Club About Me: I'm a Philly native creating roots deep in the heart of Texas. I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!

Falling Victim to Popular Trends

September 14th, 2010 @ 8:07 am by Mrs. Elephant

I’m not gonna lie, I’m totally jumping the wedding trend bandwagon with this purchase.

Falling Victim to Popular Trends : wedding dallas gift ideas menswear Chucks

Source

I’m sure you have all seen them in one wedding or another (or a wedding blog or two), most likely on the groom and groomsmen. I don’t know if our crew will wear Converse shoes at our wedding, though. We’re still thinking that through.

I always thought it was really cool how you could customize the Chucks to meet your needs and wants, so after seeing Mrs. Doxie’s post on Vans vs. Converse I decided to play around and make my own. While playing around with the colors, the wheels started turning…

What if instead of the groomsmen wearing them for the wedding, Mr. E and I got some to commemorate our wedding and to wear after the big day? So, I played around and made a pair for me (the green ones) and a pair for him (the blue ones) in our wedding colors with our date added to the heel strip. I placed the order, and 3 weeks later they were waiting for us!

Converse only had lime green laces for Mr. E’s shoes, so we’re going to purchase some green shoestrings online.

We’ll get to break these in during our engagement shoot and then will be styling in them at the send-off brunch. I’m so excited!

Are you a Chucks fan? Would you wear a pair at your wedding?

I HATE sneakers and you will almost always find me in flip floppies, but I DO love this wedding trend- it’s totally bad ass! If my dress is long enough though I will definitely be rocking my flip floppies. It’s so awesome that you got customize shoes!

Awesome! We wanted to get customized Converse for the Dads, but we ran out of time and money. However, the groomsmen wore blue and McHusband wore hot pink Converse. Everyone loved it and no one had really seen it before. Guess I can chalk it up to brides know what’s over done, but not always the guests.

Ohhhhh I love this idea. My FI would totally be onboard, too - he loves a nice pair of chucks!

Swoon!

@Miss Glasses: LOL, I love flip flops! Wear them almost all of the time. I love having sneakers for casual Fridays at work (no flip flops allowed) and in the winter.

@TheFutureMcBride: I totally agree, guests wouldn’t know! I have never been to a wedding where the groomsmen wore converse. After getting these, Mr. E is thinking of gifting his guys some to change into for the reception.

I was ready to go all ga-ga over your Chuks and then, then I realized that you are, ouch, an Aggie! Say it ain’t so. This Longhorn is seriously re-thinking my love for the chuks :( Don’t mind me, I love them. I am wearing sneakers under my dress. I bought them sometime last year and never wore them. They are bright gold. I will wear them with another pair of shoes but no how no way am I traipsing all over for 6hrs in heels, that’s too much even for this New Yorker. Really loving your chuks though :)

First of all: Wh10p! and all of that good stuff. I’m so glad to see all these Aggie bee’s representing!

Secondly, I cannot wait to see how all of these fun, exciting elements turn out with recaps of your wedding. Everything seems so bright and your DIY projects come out flawless.

I also think you should sell those t-shirt quilts at tent sales. Just think, all that money could go towards the wedding. =)

I have a really good friend who is an amazing grafetti artist who is designing the shoes for my FI and I. I’m getting white converese with the grafetti work and he will have black converse with neon graffeti work on in. I have to admit that this is by far my favorite part of the entire reception!!!!!

@bRooklynRocks: @bRooklynRocks: Yep, another Aggie Bee :) But it’s OK because there will be some Longhorns in attendance at the wedding ;)

@JackieDe: Whoop! I thought about telling Mr. E’s mom about that. So far she’s only made them for me and my MOH.

@Simchah: Those sound awesome! Would love to see pics of them!
