What Are We Going to Eat?

September 16th, 2010 @ 9:12 am by Mrs. Elephant

Well, to be truthful, I don’t exactly know what we will be eating at the reception yet since we haven’t had our tasting. But I have completed a mock-up for a menu so that the guests will know what they will be eating at the wedding.

At first, I wasn’t planning on doing a menu (thought it wasn’t necessary since we were having a buffet), but after meeting with my planner the other day we’ve decided to do one. It won’t be anything fancy, but it will add to the design idea my planner has for our table decor.

I checked out the Knot for some inspirational pictures and came out with this…

And here’s my simple mock-up. It’s printed on white card stock and backed with the same blue card stock we’ve used for all of the other DIY paper products. I added our monogram to the top and embossed the little flourish, which can also be found on our invites and save the dates, on the bottom.

The plan is to have these placed inside green napkins and wrapped with blue ribbon and a final touch of a green kermit mum. I am leaving all of that up to my planner and can’t wait to see the finished product at the reception!

Were there any “unnecessary” DIY projects that you ended up doing in the end?

Girl, you are blowing me away with all your DIY… um, um, I’m going to be marrying in TX, maybe you can do my invites :) J/k I do like the idea of a menu tucked into the napkins though, it looks so cool and honestly, the picture it gives when people sit down is going to be one of a kind. Are you going to be doing big placards for the buffet choices to be placed in front of the buffet?

Cute menu! Your food sounds delish :D (Yes, I’m that much of a food freak that I strained to read your menu!)

This reminds me that we need to do menus too, because they arent super necessary, they’ve been pushed aside, but I love knowing whats coming as a guest.

Love this idea. I really wanted to do a chalkboard menu, but we are now officially out of money. So no more craft projects! Though I do have a ton of cardstock and a printer full of ink at this very moment… ;)

@bRooklynRocks: That’s a very good question! I haven’t thought of it, but I think that could be done pretty quick, thanks I’ll add it to my list :)

@Miss Sand Dollar: HAHA, the ton of left over cardstock I had from the STDs and other paper projects is the main reason I agreed to do the menus!
