About Mrs. Earrings

Warning: The following post is probably not appropriate for work. Also: Mr E, don’t you dare read any further! Thanks muchly. :)

I’m talking about my wedding night lingerie, of course :D

For some reason, choosing my duds for the night seemed like an overwhelming ordeal at first. See, I had it stuck in my head that wedding night lingerie has to be the “ultimate” in lingerie, the best he will ever see me in, so to speak. This set me up for failure, because whenever I came across something I liked, I would put off buying it because “something better might come along.” I was in despair of ever finding the “perfect” outfit until one day when I was browsing through an online lingerie shop and I realised, “Hey. This isn’t going to be the last time I wear lingerie. I will be able to wear pretty lingerie whenever I feel like it. So, perfection isn’t necessary here!”

After I figured out that, lingerie shopping suddenly became a lot more fun.

I knew what I wanted: polka dots, maybe a hint of lace, something that says “sexy” but not “slutty,” if you know what I mean. Mr E likes black (TMI, sorry), but I really don’t want to wear black on my wedding night when I can wear it any other time.

There was one other problem with my lingerie shopping—a lot of the things I fell in love with are only available in America or the UK *sad face*. Please Claire Pettibone, come to New Zealand…I came across Mrs. Poodle’s amazing post on how she made her own gorgeous polka-dotted creation, but as tempted as I was, I couldn’t add another DIY project to my burgeoning plate.

Finally, after quite a few hours web surfing (I spend way, way too much time on the internet…) I came across two pieces of lingerie that seem “just right.”

They have just enough ruffles and sweetness about them to make me feel pretty and confident, with a hint of spice. The second one is a little more “bridal” but the top one is just so darn cute that I couldn’t resist, and besides, they were both on sale. I’m not sure which one I will wear on the night yet, but I figure I will try them on when they arrive and I will wear the one that makes me feel the best. And the other one can always be worn on the honeymoon. :P Phew! Now I have that job ticked off the list!

Did you have a hard time choosing your wedding night attire?

Those are so cute! I got an all lace one that actually has a “bustle” from Victoria’s Secret (Not really but that’s what they call it lol). It’s nice and flirty but still sexy.

I didn’t have any trouble, but I wasn’t exactly sure if my “aunt f” would be make an untimely visit. So I picked two outfits. One super comfy pj outfit that Mr. AquaBride loved from the VS catalog and I knew I could wear all winter. Then a more bridal look that I know he’ll love.

My bachelorette was the night before the wedding. And I got showered with tons of lingerie! So I stuffed it all in my bag, thinking how I’d scored and would have something to wear all week on our honeymoon.

But then he found out about it. And he made me try every piece on. The night of the wedding. After a two hour drive to our hotel.

I honestly could not tell you what I wore to bed that night. Hopefully you get a little more time to actually enjoy your purchases!

Oooh, I love the white one. Seems quite a bit saucier (in a good way), if you know what I mean ;)

Love them. I’ve got a polka dot teddy that I wore to my boudoir session, ready to see those pics! I love the balance of sweet and sexy. I don’t see myself as the bombshell type. I’m more a Cameron Diaz than a Carmen Electra. You found some great pieces!

I really want to buy some lingerie…but I’m terrified of those stores! I never even got my first “real” bra until the summer between grades 9 and 10 when I was 14. Before that I only ever wore sports bras. They didn’t support me the best though and I was self-conscious about well, my nipples showing through my shirts. But when I finally got a bra I discovered that I was a 36C! I only ever look for bras when the ones I have are delapidated though. And then I buy the one I like in bulk so that I won’t have to go again for awhile.
I’m just too chicken to ever get any further than walking up to the entrance of the lingerie store at the mall and peeking in before running away. :(
