Mrs. Sand Dollar, Houston Age and Occupation: 24, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical Technician Engagement Date: January 8, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: MacLean Park About Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!
About Mrs. Sand Dollar

Must. Stop. Dreaming.

September 16th, 2010 @ 2:28 pm by Mrs. Sand Dollar

I have an addiction to crafting. I’ve purposely forced myself to shelve my supplies so I can set a limit on all of my wedding crafts. But that doesn’t help all the daydreams of projects I so want to do…

I love Taylor. And I love this idea! How cute would it be to string up pictures of us at the entrance of our reception? Adorable. But Mr. SD would kill me; I’m already asking the boys to hang 40 strands of string lights and 50 paper lanterns. So, buh-bye cuteness.

A pretty card box. At first I struggled, searched the DIY section on the bee forums, then just decided to borrow a friend’s birdcage for it. These two are mocking up my cake, and will be used as the Rice Krispies molds, so they’ll get all greasy from the butter. Oh, well. A birdcage is still a really cute option.

Handmade, non-floral boutonnieres. My FMIL asked the mister if they were having any, and seemed a little disappointed when the answer was no. As they’re only wearing shirts, no jackets or vests, I thought they would look out of place. But how much fun would it have been to bust out the ribbon and glue gun again? I’m going to have to open an Etsy shop after the wedding to offset all my crafting urges!

Chair decorations, especially these adorable paper ones! We’re already outlining the aisle with bright yellow pinwheels, but I’d still like to go the whole nine yards. And now, for my crowning glory.

The ever-adorable, painted furniture cake table! I want, want, want this! I even have a piece in mind, and an aqua paint can available…but alas. I can’t. There’s no way I can convince people to move this behemoth at midnight after the wedding. But a girl can dream, right?

Are there any crafts you’re being forced to just-say-no to?

:( yes! Way too may to count! I figure I will have done enough anyway and people will see the efforts regardless of all the things I had initially wanted to do.

Same problem… haha, but I did end up stringing up photos, and the guests loved them. The venue was a castle and had a lot of empty wall space in the reception area and in the hallways. I am never caught without my camera so I have hundreds (ok more like thousands) of photos of friends and family. I got them printed in black and white, matte, with the white border and they looked fabulous. We invited guests to take them on their way out! I’m hoping to knock off as many as I can early because I know when it gets closer to the wedding I’ll be cutting left and right.

you can still do the strands of pictures. but hang them on one long string so they only have to tack it up in a few spots :-) tell him its the same idea with less work lol. i told FI i wanted to do this too but he convinced me his grandma would steal all the pictures before the reception even started lol

There are so many creative people in the interwebs that it’s hard to stop coveting ideas! I unsubscribed from all wedding blogs (except the ‘bee, of course) two months before my wedding to ease the temptation. Love Taylor, too.

@Miss Zebra: Whatever you need, lady. I’m at your beck and call! I’m have a ginormous to-do list for home improvement projects to distract me that the largest DIY of my life is over. So, if you need anything that requires hot glue, twine, or anything sold at Hobby Lobby, I’m your gal!

Looove those fabric bouts… followed the link, then the other link, no details really, so I’m off to see if I can find a tutorial!
No wonder my fella thinks I’ve cracked… It’s 1.46 am here! Ha!

hello, my name is sylvie…and i am a craft-a-holic.
i’m with miss elephant, i am doing all of my craft madness super early so my home doesn’t morph into a michael’s. i had to end my grand diy decor ideas for our little beach ceremony - it will be less than an hour and the sparkling sea is the best decor a girl could ask for :)

i have no doubt your big day is going to be amazing…can’t wait!

This is the problem with the internet-too many brilliant ideas! It’s impossible to incorporate everything! I am sure your wedding will be chalk-full of fabulous crafts as it is!
