Makeup Help

September 17th, 2010 @ 2:28 pm by Mrs. Elephant

Let’s just say, between you and me, I am not a girl who loves to wear makeup. In fact, the reason I hate to put it on is the fact that I have to take it off at the end of the night, normally when I’m too tired to do much of anything. After my first couple of weeks at work, I was too lazy to bother with it and haven’t really worn it on a daily basis since. Here’s a picture with my average, everyday, naked face.

Don’t get me wrong—I do own makeup and will put it on for a special occasion or anytime I know there will be a lot of pictures taken, like vacations or parties. I normally stick to the basics: eye shadow, mascara, eye liner, and Chap Stick. My lips are pretty sensitive and have been known to break out, so I don’t like to risk wearing lipstick. Here’s a pic of my face with a little help from makeup.

To really emphasize the fact that I hardly ever wear makeup, I still have the very first Clinique compact of eye shadow that Mama Elephant purchased for me back in middle school. It’s worn down, and there’s very little left, but I still have it 13 years later.

Of course, I plan on wearing makeup on the big day, and that’s the reason I will seek help in that department. I plan on hiring a makeup artist to come out to the Tribute the morning of and do my makeup there. I have begun the research and will keep you posted on what I find.

Will you do your own makeup on your wedding day or hire someone else to do it?

I hardly ever wear it either. My sister is going to do mine. She’s in beauty school right now.

I am going my own make up because I love make up and have actually done all the bridesmaid make up at my sisters wedding and a friends wedding. I don’t trust other people and I know exactly what looks good on me.

However, if you don’t have experience with make up I would ask a friend you know is really good at it to do it. I don’t really believe its necessary to pay someone if you have a person you know does a good job on a daily basis. If no one you know is good though then yeah hire some one.

I never wear it these days, like I can count on 1 hand how many times since hubs and I have been together how many times I’ve worn it! So yeah, my BFF did mine and my sisters makeup for the wedding

You took the words right out of my mouth. I am too lazy to wear makeup on a daily basis (besides basic foundation and mascara), so I will definitely need professional help the day of.

Yay, I’m not the only one with makeup over a decade old! (And still using it!) I’ve learned how to apply some stuff if I want to look nice or for pictures (and I have rosacea so if I want to look nice I have to cover up the red with green concealer and then foundation), but in general… everyday… nope, no way, what a hassle, and I HATE having to remove it. Blah.

Luckily, I’m a professional makeup artist so I’ll be doing my own… A little stressed about doing all of my bridesmaids makeup as well (5 of them total) but it’ll be awesome to add the shots to my portfolio and the reassurance of knowing it’ll turn out nicely. :)

I’m having someone else do my makeup. I am not talented in that department at all.
