I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. About Mrs. Mouse

Congratulations to our winner, buttercookie!

Williams-Sonoma is definitely “the one” in terms of couples’ favorite wedding registry destinations, and now they are turning the tables on us. They want to hear about the moment you knew that your partner was the one for you!

Personally, my favorite “moment I knew” stories tend to be the quirky or silly ones, as my husband and I have a hard time taking anything too seriously. In fact, I knew he was the one the first time we had a few drinks together and he got super goofy and lovey-dovey. It was about four months after we’d started dating, and we were hanging out with a group of friends, just having a good time. I still have a photo of him from that night, standing on a chair and doing his weird version of the Robot!

We all have our own stories and own journeys to love, and Williams-Sonoma wants to know yours.

Giveaway rules:

Beginning at 12:00 pm PST Monday September 20, create a registry at Williams-Sonoma. If you’ve already registered with W-S, simply add another item to your registry. The moment I knew my fiance was the one (well… at least the one I wanted to get to know) was on our first blind date at Applebee’s. Chicken fingers are my favorite dish, but I thought it would be too childish to order that on a date, so I got something different. As soon as I ordered, my fiance ordered chicken fingers. “What? They’re my favorite!”

My story is not nearly as funny or different as my fiancés.

I have extreme motion sickness.

The summer after we started dating my fiancé took me to fire island for a weekend. You have to take a boat to get there. Needless to say I got VERY ill. And apparently that is the moment he swears he fell in love. CRAZY!

I have my eye on that KitchenAid Stand mixer! :)
How did I know that he was the one? It started with me realizing that every time he said my name my heart felt like it would explode with love. Your name sounds different coming from the lips of your true love :) I also realized when the thought of being without him in my life was too much to bear. Thanks for the chance to win!!

I knew he was the “one” when it took him six dates to kiss me. :)

I knew he was the one after we spent our first holiday season with each other’s families and only loved each other more.

I can’t pinpoint one moment where I realized he was the one but it was our first Christmas together (we started dating in January so it was almost a year) and we went out to the bar after a family Christmas party with his counsins and sister and I was sitting at the bar with his sister and I said to her “I am going to marry your brother one day” and she got up and gave me a big hug. We dated for 5 and half years before he proposed but I knew for a long time he was the one.

Past several relationships the guy would always tell me that they loved me first. I was never the first to say it(because I never felt it was love). Rob was different, he was so caring, always putting me in his plans, thinking of me and my family. No one has ever cared about my parents except him. I knew within a month that I truly cared about him, but I resisted telling him. The moment I knew I was in love with Rob was when we were laying in bed I was dying to tell him that I loved him. It wasn’t as romantic as you think it was, it felt like I was going to explode if I didn’t tell him!

Here’s our registry: http://www.williams-sonoma.com/registry/2372364/registry-list.html

I don’t know that I have a distinctive “moment” that I knew. But the closest would be when he took me on a date and it was just a walk so we could talk. I’ve never met a guy who just wants to spend time together and talk like that.

I knew that Ron was the one when he told me he had gotten a job offer half way accross the country. Suddenly my “play it cool” attitude was gone, because I knew I could not live without him.

When our second date lasted 5 hours and the waiters were putting the chairs up on the tables to clean the floors, I was sure he was the special someone for me!

Our story has a lot of side stories that play into one. The short version is that I learned of my fiance through my potential first college roommate (she got moved to a different room so she ended up not actually being my 1st roomie). FH was dating her at the time. I first saw who he was when he was talking to her in the student union one day and had one simple thought “He would fit right in at the dinner table with my dad’s family.” Little did I know that I would meet FH in person a little while later through my actual 1st college roommate. FH was in the student union in the office of the campus entertainment board getting plans together for a RHPS event. Roomie knew I was a fan and asked if I wanted to help out. We met most of our mutual friends, who we still have to this day, through the few RHPS campus events after that day. After that first RHPS encounter, he moved across the hall from me to be the RA for the hall. That gave us a lot of time to grow as friends. Many rounds of Halo, comic book conversations, and years - we are finally planning our wedding.

When he offered to help me with dishes and clean the floor, that’s when I knew (I hate housework)!

I knew he was the one when I realized there wasn’t any qualities I would want in a husband that he didn’t already possess.

I think I knew he was “the one” over time…it didn’t hit me in a moment. But I can say, one of the pivotal points in my mind that sticks with me, is when he stood by me and told me he wasn’t about to go anywhere and actually wanted to be with me forever, when my own family abandoned and rejected me. I have to say, that’s pretty poignant right there. When he said he’d stand by me and take care of me and love me truly, madly and deeply till the end, I knew he was the one. I knew he had what it takes!

I knew my husband was “the one” when a few months into dating he went into great detail describing his best Halloween costume - a transformer that actually transforms! I live for Halloween so this hit home with me. True love!

Oh, how I’d love to go shopping at Williams Sonoma without burning a hole in my wallet!! We registered there quite a long time ago, but one item I just added to our registry is the Goldtouch Nonstick 6-Piece Essentials Bakeware Set.

The moment I first knew was very simple, but spoke volumes about my fiance’s character. We knew each other from classes, but the first time we hung out socially, I invited him to a big event that I had planned at school. He called when he was on his way over, and sought me out right away. We spent that whole evening together, talking, dancing, and hanging out with friends. At the end of the night, as the event was clearing out, I had to run upstairs to my dorm room to get a check to pay a vendor. He walked me to the entryway door, and waited at the base of the stairs for me to come back down. I hadn’t asked him to escort me, and he didn’t try to come upstairs to see my room, he just waited like a gentleman. That confirmed my suspicions – that he was a wonderful man!

Thanks for the chance to win – we’d love to shop Williams Sonoma!

I knew my husband was “the one” when I left NYC immediately after our second date and couldn’t get him out of my head! As a serial dater, I knew that had to mean something..and as a result, I spent every day of my three week Caribbean vacation day dreaming about my future husband! :D

The moment I knew my honey bunny was “the one” was when I saw him come through the terminal at the Heathrow airport. I was spending a college semester in London and we hadn’t seen eachother in 8 weeks. The moment I saw him come around the corner through the aiport was the moment I knew I couldn’t live without him and had to be with him for the rest of my life!

We’d known each other for a week, and he had broken my toilet at a party the previous weekend by dropping a whiskey tumbler on it, shattering both. We spent a weekend together attempting to install a new toilet onto century-old plumbing, to which nothing we bought from Home Depot would properly fasten. Halfway through the second day, I just looked at him, standing there in my war zone bathroom, dripping with sweat and oozing with frustration, attacking the toilet with yet another replacement part from the store, and I thought, Yeah, I think we will be good for the long haul.

First, da link: http://www.williams-sonoma.com/registry/2622983/registry-list.html

My fiance and I are in a very long distance relationship (Alberta, Canada and Riverside, California; we met five years ago via online gaming with mutual friends), so we bounce back and forth for 2 week periods to each others homes every couple months. For years I’d gone on about my wonderful cooking skills, so during my visits to Alberta he expected some damn good food. Normally I had dinner ready every night when he got home; but we went out for a late lunch before work one day, so he just asked me to bake some cookies for him to eat when he got off work.

I don’t know what the heck I did, but the cookies were just not rising. So I started all over with a new batch (there’s no mixer in his house, so everything is done by hand) and promptly fell asleep while sitting at the table mixing them. I woke up to him picking cookie dough out of my bangs at 11:30pm. He didn’t even laugh, just looked at me and said “You were actually making me cookies? Thanks honey!” and started to eat half-mixed dough with the mixing spoon.

The lack of maniacal laughter at my dirty-tired-cookie state, combined with his genuine gratitude and actually consuming what was basically a bowl of flour and melted baker’s chocolate, made me realize I could never be with anyone else.
