Bridal Style vs. Daily Style

September 23rd, 2010 @ 10:41 am by Mrs. Lioness

So now that you’ve seen my dress and my headpiece, I’ll bet you think you have a pretty good sense of my personal style. Frilly, romantic, girly…were you thinking of something like this?

Actually, the style represented in these items is pretty far from my personal style. Don’t get me wrong—I LOVE this look, but I just don’t feel like I can pull it off on a daily basis. If I had to describe my personal style (a la Tyra), I would have to say it varies between preppy and mod.

Basically, this chick right here is my fashion icon:

Emma Pillsbury’s closet can do no wrong. I mean, she’s a redhead and she can pull off yellow! Not sure how that’s possible, but I’m sure as anything not gonna fight it! I love everything this girl wears, so you’d think her wedding dress would perfectly suit my style.

I was certain that I would have similar taste in a wedding dress, but this style just wasn’t me. Perhaps I have an alter-ego side of me that’s just dying to try something new!

How about you? Is your bridal style similar to or different from your daily style?

My bridal style is very sleek and old-Hollywood glam, whereas my day to day style is very natural/indie/jeans. They probably couldn’t be more different.

My daily style is what I like to call glam fash. A cross between uber fashinable and glamour. It is fairly euro. My bridal style is more glam than fash.

Ohh my styles are definitely different. My bridal style is definitely lacey, feminine and delicate but everyday I am a jeans a t-shirt kind of girl.

My bridal style is frilly/romantic, but my everyday style is super casual. I wear jeans and some sort of nerdy t-shirt pretty much every day (though I do have a few frilly/girly things in my closet that I like to pull out every now and then.)

My alter ego was definitely present when I chose my gown. It was something that I never would have tried on, but my mom suggested it. It is very romantic and girly when I’m the kind of girl who usually wears jeans, everyday.

I LOVE Emma’s style, too!
And I also adore that Anthro outfit- I didn’t get the dress, but couldn’t leave the store without that beautiful turquoise flower cardigan. Great picks!

What would Emma Pillsbury wear? It’s lots of fun.

My everyday style is sporty, or more accurately described as lazy and comfortable. Jeans, tank tops, hoodies albeit often cute fitted ones.

I haven’t figured out what my bridal style is and I’m not sure I have one. I find myself very drawn to the slim a-line lace dresses. For some reason, I LOVE allover lace, but when I went dress shopping, my Mom and MOH didn’t like the way they looked on me. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s such a soft, romantic fabric that’s it’s jarring on me, or if it just wasn’t a good look.

Yay for the Glee reference! Actually, my bridal style and every day style mesh pretty well. In my real life, I go for casual, comfortable, laid-back, and if I wear a dress at all, it’s a flowy maxi dress. My wedding is basically a glorified maxi dress - empire waist, long flowy skirt, bubble hem, swiss dots - fun, comfortable, laid-back. I tried on more “conventional” styles, but nothing felt quite right.

I think my every day style actually conforms pretty closely to my wedding style…In every day life my clothing is more romantic and girly, not very structured at all…which is just like my wedding dress.
Ooh I LOVE Emma’s style though!

Ohhhh! I’ve never thought about it. I do want a big, puffy dress while daily my clothes are a little more subdued (black all day every day) but my hair and makeup will be laid-back, just like my everyday approach! Great post!

Ah, I love Glee and Miss Pillsbury. And while I love her style, I think her wedding dress wasn’t the best. Glad you found a wedding style you love, even if it’s different than your everday look!
