We love it so much it only took us 12 hours after we got engaged to decide to have a destination wedding. A Plethora of Ring-Bowl Options

September 23rd, 2010 @ 9:42 am by Mrs. Meerkat

There are a plethora of ring-bowl options out there. So many that at times it was hard to sift through them all. The one I have seen a lot of is by Paloma’s Nest.

I love how you can hang these on your Christmas tree as an ornament after the wedding, but it just seemed a little too classic to go with our rustic-chic wedding. We did think about making a ring holder out of one of our favorite books:

But being the uber book lover I am, I just couldn’t bring myself to cut apart one of my babies. The thought of it just sends cold shivers down my spine.

Then by chance, while stumbling around Google images, I found this:

Trying to keep with our rustic-chic travel theme, we have steered clear of things that are “beachy,” but this bowl was so beautiful we decided that it might not be such a bad idea to integrate a single beach item into the wedding. So we opened up our search to shell ring holders and found these:

We were head over heels for the simplicity and chic feel of the last one. Thankfully, I found Mag Artsy Crafty Too on Etsy. She had individual listings (with photos) of all her hand-polished shells. What really sealed the purchase for me was knowing that all her shells are bought directly from sources where the shells are considered trash. In a way, it makes me feel like we are recycling. Here is the lion’s paw shell I bought:

It is about 4.5 inches across and pefectly polished. I couldn’t have asked for better.

I would love to hear which one of the thousand options out there you chose for a ring holder!

I like the book idea. I’m a book worm myself but I wouldn’t have a problem with cutting it. Go to the Half Price bookstore and get a real vintage-y looking book.
I had a traditional pillow thing, but my mom forgot to bring it to the ceremony so … the ringbearer just held it in his hand.
haha..oh well.

Um, this was one of those things I forgot about and didn’t realize we didn’t have until just now. Oh well. Love the ideas though.

This is beautiful! :)

I am a Winnie the Pooh fan and my FH and I love Winnie the Pooh’s quote, If you live to be 100 I want to live to be 100 minus 1 day so I don’t have to live a day without you. In a local ceramic store we found a winnie the pooh holding a plaque. Luckily my mom is VERY crafty so she spent almost 8 hours in the store one day, painting the winnie the pooh and putting that saying on the plaque. Then the store fired it away and it turned out simply lovely. So that is our ring bearer option we will tie the rings around winnie the pooh’s neck and have our ring bearer carry it down the aisle so you can read it. He’s 8 so I am not worried about it breaking. Then long term, we will one day hang it in the nursery! :)

The boys I nanny for are HUGE lego fans, so they are making a box out of legos that match our colors to carry the rings in. They’re super anal about not breaking any of their creations, so I don’t think I’ll worry at all about them being dropped and going rolling around the hall!

@crazybabyinlove: I love the way you tied the saying into your ring carrier. That is going to be sooo cute!

@annapeeps: I LOVE this! We coach a kids robotics team and they are crazy careful with their lego creations they bring into show off. Now you have me thinking maybe I should have them build our team mascot or something to put out at the reception. They are such a big part of our lives.

that’s so pretty! We are using my old precious “Gregory Bunny.” He was very beat up, so last month I sent him to the Teddy Bear Hospital in Pittsburgh PA and I just got word yesterday that’s he’s all better :) I’ll be getting him back soon, thank God! (Yeah I’m 30 but it’s been very difficult being separated from him!)

If you want a scallop shell, just go to a restaurant where they serve scallops! They’ll give you the shell for free.
