Grand Sendoff

September 27th, 2010 @ 3:33 pm by Mrs. Elephant

My dream wedding sendoff involves a little sparkle and light…

Sigh…beautiful sparkler sendoffs. I have never been to a wedding with a sparkler sendoff, but I fell in love looking at pictures online. Sadly, that sparkling dream was quickly put out when I was told by our venue that sparklers are a no-no. The coordinator referenced past weddings where sparklers resulted in minor fires, so they have since been banned.

No worries! I asked what our other options were and was given the choice of bubbles or real flower petals. Since bubbles are cheaper than flowers, the choice was easy to make.

I stocked up on wedding bubbles from Michaels (on sale and with a bonus coupon!), had a morning session of ribbon tying 101, and bada bing bada boom—we’re ready for our send off!

168 bubbles later

What did you do for your sendoff? Did you have to go with a plan B due to venue restrictions?

I was relieved that our venue didn’t have any restrictions on sparklers, and we got some great photos out of it. Bubbles are fun and beautiful too, though.

That’s my dream send off too. But like you, I wont’ be able to have it. Lovin the bubbles though.

doestip-toeing quietly out of the reception count? I’m an introvert adjusting to being the focus of attention, so I haven’t warmed up to the send-off part, yet.

Is this for when you leave the reception? Or at the end of the ceremony?

For the end of the ceremony, I’ve been thinking about ribbon wands, instead of confetti or rice or whatever. I hadn’t really thought about the end of the reception, but sparklers would be very cool!

Ahhh, the sparker send off- so beautiful, so impractical. Ahhh, wedding bubbles- such a fun compromise!

We’re getting married on the beach and all of the festivities are outdoors (yes, even the dinner and dancing!), so the sparklers are no problem. But we’re not leaving (LOL) - we’re staying right there at tje small resort with our guests and plan on partying late into the night - so we’re lighting sparklers right before the first dance, instead.

We ordered the 36″ sparklers that last 4 minutes, and we will have five or six guys with lighters to light them quickly. (Plus, guests can light each others’.) Once most of them are lit, we will approach for our first dance and guests will surround us with the lit sparklers.
