Mrs. Brooch's Picture
Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.

Shoes That Make My Heart Flutter

September 27th, 2010 @ 4:56 pm by Mrs. Brooch

I used to wear heels all the time. When I was in high school, I always tried to dress nicely. Even though it didn’t always come together perfectly, I tried. Luckily, my friends were some of the school’s fiercest fashionistas, and they always encouraged me to dress well.

We all loved buying shoes. And I’ve alwasy been a sucker for the highest heels.

My legs are my best feature, and everyone knows a high heel accentuates the legs. As a matter of fact, the weekend I met Mr. B, I wore nothing but platforms.

A few years ago, my perfect wedding shoes would have looked something like this:

or this:

Nowadays, my style is much different. While I still love getting in a pretty pair of heels for an evening on the town or out with my hubs, my everyday wear is definitely flats. I work in an office, so I don’t have to do a lot of walking around, but I walk to a bus every morning, and I need to be comfortable.

The same goes for our wedding day. I don’t want stingy feet or ouchy blisters!

But there’s another reason I won’t be making a cameo in heels on our wedding day, and it has to do with Mr. B: we’re the same height. No, I’m lying. He’s probably an inch or two shorter than me. Our pictures (and everything) would look really weird if I was towering over him.

So more than likely, I’ll be in a pair of lovely flats like these:

Or some pretty, open-toes-y ones like these:

Or more than likely, my absolute favorites, these:

What type of shoes are you wearing? Is your man shorter than you?

I’m 5′4″ and my FH is 5′7″ and I haven’t decided what kind of shoes I want to wear. He absolutely lovessss me in heels and doesnt care that I tower over him but I’m thinking about our pictures and I don’t want that look for all eternity.

Cute shoe options! I’m totally a heels girl — only 5′3” so they come in handy but even though my FI is 5+ inches taller than me I’m keeping my heel height around 3 inches or less so our heights are a little more true to size for pictures! :)

I’m taller than my fiance too!! Thus, I will be donning flats. I think our feet will thank us that night, anyhow.

i love the last pair! I thought about wearing flats coz they are comfy…but Mr E is so much taller than me that heels just make it look more “balanced.” :P

My fiance and I are exactly the same height. Or he might be just a hair (maybe like half an inch) shorter than me. So I rarely wear heels and I definitely don’t sport them at all when we’re having pictures taken.

The truth is, I never really wore heels before I met him either. Now I just have a great excuse. ;)

awesome that i get to post behind spam :)
My Fiance is about 5 inches taller than me, so I could wear a reasonable heel, but I’m 5′8″ and most of my bridal party is about 5′2, and flats are comfy anyways

I just bought wedding shoes this week but I’m still deciding between heels and flats… I love heels because they make me feel great but we are getting married on the beach so flats may be more appropriate. Regardless we are having a daytime wedding so they have to be daytime appropriate.

Check out my blog for pics and tell me what you think! http://barristerbride.blogspot.com/2010/09/three-pairs-of-wedding-shoes.html

My fiance also sent me this article to help with the decision: http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/4peeJp/newsfeed.time.com/2010/09/21/study-men-dont-notice-if-women-wear-high-heels/

I super duper love the last pair as well. And I have the oposite problem. I’m 5′1″ and my fiancé is 6′1″! I have to wear serious heels just to look like a grown up! :-)

Um, I think you just helped me find my wedding shoes, in those silver butterfly flats. LOVE.

I’m about 4″ shorter than P, but I always feel a little funny around him when I wear heels. I guess I like being shorter than him! I have been planning on flats, or 1.5″ heels at most.

I’m 5′6″ and my fiancee is 6′3″. We’re getting married on the beach, so I was planning to go barefoot and wear these instead of shoes:
http://www.tootsie-footsie.com

But because of our height difference, I’m going to wear platform flip-flops, at least during the ceremony, so we’ll be closer in height for our pictures. By the time we get to the dancing (also on the beach), I’m sure I’ll be barefoot after all!

I plan on wearing heels for the ceremony then changing into some flats for the reception. I love the silver butterly flats, too cute.

Yay for taller brides!!! :) I’m an inch or two taller than Mr. FF, and I wore flats on our wedding day, too. (And you’re right…your tooties will be *so* comfy at the end of the night!!!) If I had seen that last butterfly pair when I was searching for my shoes, well…it would have been game over.
