Mrs. Knitting, Toronto Age and Occupation: 24, Student Recruitment Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Neuroscience PhD Candidate Engagement Date: October 2009 Wedding Date: December 2010 Venue: University of Toronto Faculty Club About Me: I'm a pearl wearing, etiquette book reading Toronto girl who loves cooking and baking, museums, charm bracelets, and collecting books on Jackie Kennedy (a lot). I've been known to spend Sunday mornings at the antique market, Wednesday evenings at sister sushi dinners, and any bit of spare time reading. After six and a half years of many late night walks, watching DVDs together in bed, travelling to places like New York, and Tobermory, doing Sudokus together on the couch, lots of Indian food, the occasional yoga class, moving in together and so much more, Mr. Knitting and I are planning a cozy Christmasy (it's a word!), vintage wedding in Toronto complete with many DIY projects (eek!) and lots of help from our amazing group of family and friends.
About Mrs. Knitting

My family and I traveled to Edmonton last weekend for my cousin’s wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and we all had so much fun. If our wedding is half as full of love and fun as theirs was, I’ll be thrilled.

My sisters and me in action:

My Name is Miss Knitting and I'm a Crazy Person : wedding emotional toronto Invites

My Name is Miss Knitting and I'm a Crazy Person : wedding emotional toronto 2010 09

BUT, I kind of realized what a complete crazy person I am. I got so stressed on the day of the wedding because members of my family were slightly late. Not even late enough for us to actually arrive anywhere late, but slightly later than we had agreed on and it completely stressed me out and turned me into an unpleasant person. NOT COOL.

Now I’m terrified I’m going to behave like this at our wedding and I really don’t want to. It’s not a fun feeling for me and I’m pretty positive it makes me a huge pain to be around. If I allow insignificant things to bother me to such an extreme there is no way I’m going to enjoy the day.

I am now trying to think of good strategies to avoid becoming a complete crazy pants on our wedding day. I think my favourite so far is reminding myself that everyone will be so mad and annoyed with me if I act all mean and stressed out. I really don’t want that to happen because that will mean a lot of my favourite people will not enjoy our wedding because they’ll be stuck trying to deal with the Knitting Monster!

Are you worried about your stress levels at your wedding? How do you plan to deal?

I’m not going to wear my watch on our wedding day and I’m handing over my phone (on silent) to my girlfriends. Maybe I’ll unplug all the clocks in the bridal room too (if there are any). It’s not like the wedding can happen without me! I’d rather be a few minutes late because I drank too much water and had to pee than be on time and doing the tinkle dance in front of the rabbi and 100+ guests!

Oh yes! I can stress out pretty easy, but I’m taking cues from the people that will be around me that morning. I’ll have my girls there to remind me that no matter what I’ll still get married and to just enjoy the day.

tardiness is my biggest pet peeve ever. I can’t stand being late, I can’t stand other people late. For me it sets the mood for the rest of the day/evening/event etc. I try not to get stressed about things like that but I just can’t help it. My OCD-ness has me convinced something horrible will happen if things are running 5 mins behind. Lateness makes me so super anxious! I’m going to have to be sedated on my wedding day, I’m sure of it.

*sigh* Thank you for this post. I am marrying into a Greek family, and they are always late! It drives me bonkers!

We show up to church on Sunday five minutes late, and we are the first ones there. Throughout the service people show up and the church is full by the end of Sunday service.

If this happens for the wedding, I would be so mad. I was an army cadet and always learned that being “on time” meant that you aimed to arrive 10 minutes early.

Because 90% of my guests are coming from out of town (within a 2-4 hour drive, so they likely will drive down that morning), I am concerned that lateness will be an issue. I am considering lying on the greek invitations and saying it starts at 1pm instead of 1:30pm. (Still gotta clear this one with the FI hahaha!)

I know…I’m totally worried about this too. I agree with Miss Elephant…I’ll be taking cues from my loved ones on how to relax and let the day take place.

I feel ya. I’m such a control freak that I don’t think I can handle getting rid of all the clocks. But I do think I’ll hand over the phone while I get my hair and make-up done so I don’t look at the time every 30 seconds. Otherwise, I plan on copius amounts of champagne and really good music.

I definitely worry that I am going to overheat, but hopefully I can just keep it together and roll with the punches. Love your headband by the way!

My plan is to be blissfully ignorant to any and all problems that might arise. If so mething is going wrong for any reason, I don’t want to know about it! At that point, I figure there is really nothing I’ll be able to do anyway. That’s what my planner is for… :)

Here’s a hint: DON’T BE A CRAZY PANTS! Haha, just kidding, but seriously, I’m crazy pants too, like when I drink too much and yell at Mr. G for no reason (one time, I yelled at him because he wanted to eat a hamburger and not a burrito and I was telling him to stop being racist!) but I think now that I’m aware of it, it’s easier to control. Now that you’re simply aware, you can be mindful of it- it would’ve been worse if a crazy Bridezilla attacked out of no where on your day!

@mjchexum: Yup, that’s basically exactly how I feel. Glad to know I’m not alone!
@spitfire229: Haha that’s a great plan.
@jordynrose: Thanks!
