Mrs. Hippo, New York City/Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 34, Event Planner for a Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance IT Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Samuel Lynne Galleries and Marc Events About Me: I’m a thirty-something bride living in New York City and planning a modern-ish wedding in Dallas, Texas. I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).

Matrimonial Music: Pre-Ceremony Beats

September 27th, 2010 @ 2:10 pm by Mrs. Hippo

I’ve been thinking about the music to play in the art gallery before the ceremony begins for months. With guests roaming the gallery, it’s a perfect time to put on some tunes that King Hippo and I both love while also setting the tone for the evening. The art gallery also has an amazing sound system that I can plug an iPod into, so that will be super easy. While I could definitely come up with hours of music that would be appropriate, I figure we need roughly 45 minutes or so of pre-ceremony music.

Here are the songs that will likely be on the playlist:

I also love this song, and this video I found on You Tube has some stunning images. You simply have to watch the whole thing:

Oh, I could go on forever, but we’ve reached the 45 minutes. Too bad, right?!

What songs are you playing pre-ceremony?

We’re picking upbeat and fun love songs like “Love will Keep Us Together” (Capt. and Tennille), “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” (Stevie Wonder), and “How Sweet It Is” (James Taylor). I like the groovy vibe you’ve got goin’ on, though. Very cool and romantic.

I really like that last video/song. It’s one of those that I feel like I’ve heard before but don’t remember where.

Looove that death cab song. One of our GMs is a singer and he did a cover of it that we’re going to surprise him by playing at the reception :-)

OMG. I didn’t think it was possible for me not to know a Jason Mraz song… kind of a Jason junkie. :) I absolutely love it. Playlist looks fantastic.
