Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

Flowers and a Little Mix Up

September 27th, 2010 @ 5:21 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Let’s talk about flowers. I absolutely loved our flowers, and our florist, Haute Floral. I even went to see them a couple of days before the wedding as they were opening up. Not because I’m that crazy—okay, only partially because I’m that crazy. I also had to drop off some vases and shepherd’s hooks. But I mean, how could I not love them, look at them!

The wrap around my blooms was made from my mom’s wedding veil. And, the LOVE letters were made from vintage typewriter letters I bought off of eBay.

My girls’ bouquets:

And, some of the reception and ceremony decor:

Okay, enough with eye candy for now, it’s time for some stories. So, the guys were required to do two things on their own:

  1. Get dressed
  2. Put on boutonnieres

They got dressed fine, but they struggled with their second step. I wasn’t there to tell them which person was supposed to wear each boutonniere, so they decided on their own. Mr. Fro Yo ended up with my mom’s corsage, and one of his groomsmen wore his boutonniere.

Yes, I could have said something, but there was so much going on, and I figured it was a small thing, so I didn’t worry about it. So, if you care about this, make sure you label them!

Up next? The ceremony.

The touch of lace on your bouquet looks great. How funny that the flowers got mixed up? I guess it could have been worse!

@Encore: Nothing! I felt awful. The ushers weren’t scheduled to get any, but they had them. Oh well.

That is too funny. I’m surprised the florist did label them for you though. I just assumed that they did that. I’m adding it to my list now!

Wow! Your flowers are gorgeous! I love the contrast in using manzanita branches, “drowned” flowers in vases (seriously what are those kind called?) and hanging pieces! I think we’ll do the same. And that is a reeeeallly cute story about the corsages and bouts!

I love that your mother’s veil was your bouquet wrap - my bouquet wrap was lace cut off of my great-grandmother’s wedding dress.
