Sattui Winery About Me: I'm an East Coast girl, living on a tiny little island in the Pacific, twirling, leaping, and shimmy-ing my way through life, and now, wedding planning! I'm equal parts nerdy and cool... okay, mostly nerdy. I love satin bows, red lipstick, black & white graphic anything, the shine of sequins and the sound of a champagne "pop". My favorite books are The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I can also conjure a pretty good Patronus Charm. I started my appreciation for good red wine while traveling on the high seas, and it's only fitting that my passion for wine drinking led me to my Napa-bred honey. We bonded over bottles of Cabernet on my oceanfront porch and haven't looked back since. We're sealing the deal at a winery in the Napa Valley on a 'perfect ten' of a day!

Wine Box Card Box?

September 27th, 2010 @ 9:35 am by Mrs. Barrettes

While we were doing a tasting (with our photographer—fun!) I spotted wine boxes for sale. Instantly, my brain went into DIY mode and I thought of our non-existent card box. This could do the trick!

Mr. Barrettes said he could cut a hole in the “top” of the box and screw it shut so the panel didn’t slide open. He’d also have to put some sort of bracket on the bottom so it could stand upright safely.

I like it laying down with the panel sliding towards me, but the cards would either have to go in the “back” of it, or be bent/pushed through a slot on top to lay flat. You feel me?

Which way would you prefer to see it presented if you were giving us a card?

I like it upright. It just looks so much better. You know… when things are standing up ;)

Cheers,
Fen

nice find! I will have to keep that in mind! I think that yes it looks nice laying down, but practically will work much better standing up, like in the first picture. :-)

I like it laying down, but I have to agree that it would be easier to put the cards in standing up.

This is also an awesome keepsake from your venue!

Could you buy two and have one laying down as the base for the one standing up? Best of both worlds!

I know some people are afraid of theives (how horrible to be a person who steals from a newly married couple!) but if you aren’t what if the wine box was laying down and then you could open the lid and put in your card?
If not, then from a guest’s perspective, standing up would work best.

we used one of these boxes too! We stood it up, removed the cord, and cut a hole in the top where the cord was! We then glued the sliding side on, so it couldn’t be opened!
It was a great card box!!

Upright! It also will take up much less space on the gift table!

Also guests do not want to “fight” to place a card in the box if it were laying flat.

I think upright is best. It will save space and make it easier to put the cards in.

How about stacking two of them together? That way - it can safely stand - either way, and the cards can go in as is.
