About Mrs. Lioness

One of the latest (and in my opinion, greatest) trends right now in the wedding world is the idea of giving back. ”Green” weddings, charity donation favors, and now, bridal sales for a cause. Next weekend in Atlanta, Susan G. Komen is putting on a bridal-gown sale to benefit breast cancer, a cause that just happens to be very near and dear to me.

Bridal designers have donated gowns specifically for this sale, and 100% of the proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen. Additionally, you can get a pretty hefty discount on said gowns! Most dresses go for $99-$799, which is definitely cheaper than the average bear! Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. I, unfortunately, will not be able to attend because I have a wedding to go to that day, but I would have loved to check it out even though I already have my dress! Here’s the info in case any of y’all are interested in going so I can live vicariously through you:

Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 12pm-6pm at the

Holiday Inn Atlanta/Roswell

909 Holcomb Bridge Road, Roswell, GA 30076

Preregister at here by October 1st.

What’s that? You don’t live in Atlanta but you’d love to help out? Check out this site to find similar upcoming events near you.

I think this is a great cause! What a wonderful idea. If I didn’t already have my dress I would be attending for sure!

As soon as I get my dress “post-altered” (I’m taking one of the layers off the train to keep for sentimental reasons) I’ll be donating my dress to a Brides Against Cancer event. I couldn’t be more excited about the whole thing :) Hopefully someone will love my dress as much as I did!

I bought my dress at this sale last year. The sale was fabulous!!!!!! I felt really great about giving back and getting a dress at the same time. I got an $1800 dress for $600. Tons of options and all the dresses I tried on were brand new with tags, no used dresse, like a lot of other sales. Only thing I was not counting on was the communal dressing room. They had tons of sales associates on hand to help you in and out of the dresses, so the process went smoothly. Get there early as they line you up outside the ball room and only let in a few groups at a time and then you have to wait for people to leave before the line moves again. We were the 40th group in line and did not get into the ballroom till 1:45. So fun and such a great cause. I am sad my wedding is over and I cannot do it all over. Good luck to all you shoppers.
