…Because I just bought Mr E a couple of little gifts! (*Ahem* If you happen to be reading this Mr. E, then this is the place where you stop…unless you want to ruin the surprise which I know you don’t
)
Usually, I find it very hard to buy Mr. E gifts. He just isn’t a “things” person. He likes giving gifts, but when it comes to receiving them…well, there isn’t that much he actually wants. He is just so darn hard to buy for that I usually have to bug him for ages about what I should get him, so by the time I actually do find something, the element of surprise is gone. We weren’t really going to do the whole “bride and groom give each other gifts” thing, but…then I came across two gifts that just screamed “Mr E”. I knew this could be my chance to surprise him!
I found the first gift through my best friend Etsy. I have always liked the idea of giving the groom cufflinks for him to wear on the wedding day. I mean, there aren’t that many other days where Mr. E is going to get to wear cufflinks, so it is the ideal groom’s gift for him. I wanted them to reflect a part of his personality too, so I thought some little camera cufflinks (Mr. E is a photographer) would be just perfect. Thanks to dabbledesigns I found them:
And for a very affordable price, too!
The other gift is a little more special. Mr. E hates wristwatches but has wanted a pocket watch for ages. We talked about it once, quite a few months ago, and I said, “if you’re lucky maybe that can be my present to you for our first anniversary.” Hhe said he would love that.
Ha! Little did he know that I was just putting him off. *insert sneaky ninja music* I have been planning to surprise him on the wedding day with a pocket watch ever since that conversation. He is always surprising me with gifts, now it is my turn to finally catch him off guard and repay the favor.
It was just a matter of finding the right watch, and, after a few months of shopping around, I did. Without further ado, here it is:
(Personal photo- why yes, most of the photos I take involve my windowsill. Because it seems to be the only clear space in my room).
It is simple enough for Mr. E to be able to wear it whenever he likes, but sophisticated enough for our wedding as well. I also had the back engraved with his name, our wedding date and “With love, Mrs E.” The guy who did the engraving said, “he’s going to think you’re the best wife ever!” when I told him what I wanted written. That made my day! I can’t wait to give the watch to Mr. E in just over 3 months.
Is your groom hard to buy for? Are you getting him a wedding day gift?
