Bridal Buys

September 28th, 2010 @ 5:40 pm by Mrs. Elephant

Are you an impulse buyer?  I know there have been times when I see something and feel the need to buy it.  I just can’t help it sometimes!

While looking for a dress with Mama Elephant, I wandered around to check out some of the many wedding items that they put on display for brides to buy, possibly on impulse. These caught my eye…

Aren’t they cute?!! We could use another set of luggage tags for our bags. Or we could always get these for our passports.

A little part of me wanted to pick them up for the fun of it, to show off on our honeymoon. Maybe get that elusive first-class upgrade when checking in for our flight?? But the practical (for the moment) side told me there were better things to spend my money on right now. Maybe the magical gift fairy will drop them by for us? A girl can dream. ;)

Did planning get you in the mood to make “impulse” purchases related to your wedding?

My sister surprised us ‘bride’ & ‘groom’ luggage tags for my bridal shower.

They were perfect because I would never have let myself splurge on such a frivolous short-term use, but I was so giddy to have them!

(Unfortunately they did not get us upgraded to first class, despite our best efforts)

While looking at some blogs, I saw something someone posted that they found on Etsy. They were these vintage cake forks with Mr. and Mrs. on them. I HAD to have them so I bought them. Wedding’s not for a year so I hope I remember I have them! Etsy is dangerous.

I don’t know how much you say them for but Amazon has super cute ones for like 7 bucks:

Oh, can I confess? Just yesterday I made an impulse buy! I saw on a website (don’t remember which one) a beautiful hair decoration made from a peacock feather. The piping on my dress is going to be iridescent peacock blue, so it seemed perfect. I didn’t buy the hairpiece, but I DID end up buying (for only $20, including shipping!) 20 peacock feathers (naturally shed, not plucked). I don’t know if I’ll use them in my bouquet, hair, or what, but suddenly they seemed like EXACTLY WHAT I NEED. So ridiculous. At least they were cheap! I try to keep all my impulse buys to under $20. :)

@gill84: LOL, the hope for an upgrade was one of the main reasons why I wanted them. But like you, I bet they wouldn’t work for me either.

@heather25: Thanks for the link, I need to check those out!

Passport covers are silly. They always make you take the cover off anyway.

There are soo many things that make me feel like, “Oh! That’s soooo cute and sooooo impractical money-wise!” The things you’ve found included :D
