Lookie What I Bought

September 29th, 2010 @ 10:14 am by Ms. Sloth

Once again, I got excited about something way too early and made a purchase about eight to ten months ahead of time. But whatevs. This wasn’t expensive, and they are so cute.

I ordered these festive paper banners from Etsy. Look how fun and awesome they are!

I ordered them in our colors so that they’ll match the rest of our decor. I have no idea what to do with them, though. Hang them around the edge of our tent? Use them to line the cake table or gift table? Use them in our fauxtobooth?

Did you purchase any wedding decor with no idea how you’d use it?

love! these banners are sooo pretty. i went a little overboard with the banner and garland shopping on etsy too and figure we could use it by the welcome table and the cake table at the very least! can’t wait to see how you use these beauties :)

Tjose will look amazing where ever you put them. Honestly, I was awful about this. The day of the wedding I just told everyone to do whatever because I didn’t really care; I was too happy to worry about decorations I had wasted my whole summer creating.

If they’re made of paper, hanging them outside leaves them at risk of rain. Why not hang them along the inside edge of your tent. If you have spare, and the walls are high enough, try hanging them from corner to corner, crossing over the centre.

Whatever you do though, they are going to look great. A splash of bright colour makes such a difference inside a white tent.

What a great buy! Even if it turns out they were an impulse purchase, you could always use them for other parties! I think you should use them in an obvious place where they won’t get swamped by the scale of your tent (unless you bought enough for them to really make a statement hanging across the tent?)

Awesome! I think these are lovely…my venue doesn’t allow any hanging unfortunately, but otherwise I would have been all over this!

I just did! I mentioned it in another thread (sorry for the double-post, but it seemed appropriate here!).

I just bought 20 peacock feathers, completely on impulse. I’m going to have peacock blue piping on my dress, so they will match perfectly. They were only $20, including shipping, and come from some peacock keepers where they gather the feathers in the fall when the birds naturally shed them (no cruelty).

I think I would like to work one or more into a hair piece, but I’m not terribly crafty, so I’m not sure how that’s going to go. I might also use them in my bouquet or other decorations.

It’s much too easy to exactly that!
My Etsy favourites page is miles long, and it’s hard not to buy things from it.

My mum talked me in to buyign a rug (!!) just weeks after we got engaged, because she (well, me too) thought it would be a cool and funky way to make our ceremony area stand out. Ikea. Apple green. Shag.

It’s awesome in a crazy way, but I haven’t been able to convince P about it yet.

I also bought 2 large birdcages, just because they were the right shade of apple green.

Oh, and this:

We’re still 9 months from our wedding!

Adorable! Great idea to use them for the cake and gift table… I’m struggling with what to do about that.

And yes, I have a whole box of random things I’ve purchased because they were inexpensive and the perfect colors, and I have no idea what I will do with them… I figure when the day comes, we’ll decide what needs a little extra touch!

I will be using those colorful banners for my wedding too! I won’t be getting them from Etsy, rather a store that sells the authentic Mexican kind. They are very festive and vibrant. I love them!!

I love papel picados, so colorful and cheery, I wish I’d found them in my wedding planning process earlier so I could incorporate them!

Beautiful! I started (and even finished) some DIY projects with no idea where they’d go, figuring my DOCs would just stick ‘em somewhere pretty. Some it worked out, others it didn’t- you really don’t want to get too cluttered. I love these though.

Any of your ideas on how to use them would be great! I especially love the idea of using them in your fauxtobooth! They will add color and festiveness!
