With family portraits wrapped up, Mr. FF and I made our way through the corridors of our hotel to the grand ballroom. You know, for a little get-together. A small fête. FOR OUR FREAKING RECEPTION!

Our escort card table centerpiece let guests know they were in for a sweet reception!
::ahem:: I’m pulling myself together now, I promise—I just still get excited every time I think about it! I had planned for months for our reception décor to look cohesive, pretty, and well…pink. And letmetellyou, when I walked into that ballroom, it literally took my breath away.
You spend months and months picturing the moment that you see your reception venue, trying to fit the pieces of a puzzle together when you’re not 100% sure what the picture is supposed to look like. Seeing all of our details together, in one space? It was worth every ounce of energy, every minute of frustration, every budget rearrangement that I had done up to that point.
Our candy jar centerpieces looked perfect!

The quotes about love that I framed for each table were in place (and a few guests told me they read all of them!).

All of the “paper products” from the escort cards to the menus and favor bags at each place setting looked awesome. And, the fabric napkins that my mom had taken the time to sew individually by hand looked freaking gorgeous.

Our black linens and chair covers paired with our fuchsia chair sashes looked fab.

And the up lighting? Wellllll, let’s just say that it was one of the reasons the ballroom took my breath away. The room was awash in a sea of pink (and not in a Pepto-Bismol way). It gave everyone and everything a rosy glow, just like I had hoped. You’ll see more of this later!
Mr. FF and I snuck in a side door to deposit our belongings at our table, and to take a look around at our space. Once I had picked my jaw up off of the floor, we ushered ourselves quickly out a side exit and into a back hallway, out of sight. Our guests, in the meantime, picked up their escort cards and a glass of passed champagne that was circulating the ballroom, and found their way to their tables.

Ah, yes. That’s the rosy glow I was talking about!
Soon, it was time for us to make our grand entrance. Given Mr. FF’s love for The Karate Kid, we chose to enter to Joe Esposito’s song “You’re The Best”. What’s that? You’re not familiar with that song? Here you go!
Yep. Let’s just say that entering to this song was really important to Mr. French Fries. I couldn’t help but laugh as we made our way into the ballroom, because I knew what was coming: a deftly executed crane kick, courtesy of one Mr. FF. And no, I’m not even remotely close to joking.
We started out entering the ballroom innocently enough.

But soon, we parted hands…

…and Mr. FF channeled his inner Miyagi.

Hi-YA!
I could see how much it meant to Mr. FF — it was written all over his face.

We made our way to our table (waited for people to stop laughing and cheering!) and kissed for good measure. Really, can you kiss too much on your wedding day? I think not.

Up next: cake cutting and toasts!
Miss a Chapter?
First, we drove all of our stuff to our venue.
Then, I freaked about the weather forecast.
Next, we rehearsed.
We had a yummy rehearsal dinner!
The girls got glam.
We both got dressed and ready to rock and roll.
Mr. FF watched me walk down the aisle.
We got married!!!
We beat the storm for our bridal party pictures.
We grabbed umbrellas and got lovey-dovey.
I kept it real.
