Providence Picture Places

September 29th, 2010 @ 12:42 pm by Mrs. Zebra

Zeb and I decided early on that we would enjoy city-landscape pictures. I really enjoy the elegance of wedding pictures juxtaposed with city grit. Lush greens and beautiful gardens would not yet be in bloom during our (wicked) early spring wedding. Two of the more common picture locations in the area are at the Statehouse and Roger Williams Park. Both are gorgeous in their own right, but I wanted something different, dammit!

In comes our crazy idea. We are going to walk from our church to the Biltmore. It’s not a long distance—five or six blocks, really—and we’ll scope out photographic opportunities along the way. It was a romantic idea, but we had no idea if it was actually feasible. Are there any good spots to take pictures? All that was solved this past weekend when we decided to go to Providence on a particularly boring Sunday (read: prooooocrrrrrrasssstinaaaaationnn!) and do a trial walk. We were very excited with what we saw. Well, I was excited; Zeb just thinks it’s “cool.” The following are some of the “cool” spots Zeb got to see.

We are planning to get our family portraits and formal wedding-party shots in the church courtyard (first picture). Then we plan on ditching everyone for a little alone time with the each other—I mean, the camera. Of course, all of this depends upon how hard it is raining. I am confident that our photographer can make these locations looks even more bootylicious with her fancy eye. Our plan is to walk down Westminster Street, where most of these pictures were taken. Except that door was outside Trinity Brewhouse and was just too gorgeous to pass up.

Do you know of any awesome indoor picture locations that don’t necessarily scream “wedding portraits?” Are you planning a little something different for your wedding pictures?

miss zebra - these are super “cool” photo locales! if we were to be wed in an urban locale, we would scope out a cool industrial restaurant {exposed brick, wood beams}. can’t wait to see the pics!

No no no Ms. Z, it shall not be raining on your wedding day. It shall be nice and breezy. Sunny but not too hot. A balmy 72 degrees in for your wedding day. Your spots are nice. Can’t wait to see how it pans out :)

I’m just fascinated by how fun it will be to walk five or six blocks in the city in full wedding regalia. You are going to draw some very happy attention! I love it. :)

@bRooklynRocks: Haha here’s to hoping its nice weather but I am defaulting to Nor’Eastor for the day. That way the weather can only improve, not worsen.

Thanks Ladies!
