Mrs. Jaguar's Picture
Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Curzon Hall About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
About Mrs. Jaguar

Squee…I’m a Bee!

September 30th, 2010 @ 12:30 pm by Mrs. Jaguar

Hey everyone…well, really I should start off by saying g’day!

I’m Miss Jaguar and having been reading, okay, stalking the hive for such a long time, I still can’t believe I’m lucky enough to be blogging here today. This calls for a celebration, in the form of awkward dancing while grinning in front of famous landmarks!

Squee...I’m a Bee! : wedding relationships sydney 1 1

Yes, that’s me. No, I can’t dance. Kindly pretend I’m fabulous.

I had always intended to try my luck at becoming a bee. Every time I followed a Miss to a Mrs, I was itching at the chance to jump on board. And when the new generation of Safari Animals came out? I was smitten. There was only one problem…our wedding date was too far away. I was too early, by about a month. So what was a girl to do?

There are a few things you’ll get to know about me pretty quickly. I’m a forward planner. I do things way earlier than I should…which leads in nicely to my next trait: I have the patience of a tiny, tiny bug. Combine those two together and you have a recipe for disaster. Needless to say, I had my entire bee application written out a few months before I was even eligible to apply. I still sent it in, though—I thought I might burst if I didn’t get that email out of my drafts folder. There’s been sunshine and rainbows and unicorns all round since I received my YES email. (Okay, so realistically it’s been grey and rainy this past week—but we are in London after all!)

So let’s get down to business…let me introduce myself and my fiancé. I think this portrait sums us up fairly well—me lapping up the attention and Mr. Jaguar patiently putting up with me & my love of self portraits.

Taken just before the boy ditched me to go abroad for a few months.

We’re both Australians who have been living abroad in the UK for the past few years, and we’ll be getting married in our hometown of Sydney next June! We recently celebrated our eight year anniversary, and met way back in 2002 in a very unique way… which did involve the internet. (That’ll be another whole post in itself…I love how the fates brought us together.)

The boy finally proposed in August 2009 on a belated birthday weekend away and we’re now on the countdown towards our wedding next June. We’ve been planning everything so far from our temporary home here in London…but looking forward to getting back to our original home to get cracking with all things wedding! There will be so much planning and lots of fun details waiting for us there, which I’m sure will prove to be interesting; we have quite a few international guests & bridal party members to work with.

Exploring Venice together back in 2004…such babies we were!

Mr. Jaguar and I share the travel bug, love geeking out online, and can be as happy sitting side by side on our respective laptops as we are when we’re out and about exploring. The goal is to plan a traditional and low-key wedding—we’re doing out best to keep it simple, on budget and ‘us’, if you know what I mean.

Hopefully I won’t be pulling faces in ALL of our wedding pics!

Reading about how previous bees have chosen their character is always one of my favourite things to do, and I’m no exception: I chose to be Miss Jaguar for a couple of reasons.

  • The cuteness factor: it’s too much. I love her somewhat forlorn little face, and that she’s all relaxed in her tree. Adorable.
  • Mr. Jaguar’s name also starts with a ‘J’ as does our wedding date next June…and I’m a dork who loves things that fit together.
  • Being a Leo, it’s only fitting that my character be one of the big cats.
  • It reminds us of our own feisty feline!

Speaking of which, let me introduce you to the third member of our little family: Kitty Jaguar, aka Oscar. He likes to think he’s a big cat, anyway.

He’s so handsome.. when he’s not yawning, that is!

There is so much happening in the coming months that will make time fly by. I can’t wait to get down and dirty with all things wedding and I hope you’ll follow along in my somewhat haphazard journey down the aisle! I can’t wait to meet you all!
