We’ve been working hard behind the scenes for months to bring this exciting new feature to the hive, and we’re finally ready to unveil it! Weddingbee is excited to announce the upcoming grand opening of TWO online shops: favors and invitations!

Stay tuned for next week when we unveil both shops, along with some great promos in the upcoming weeks to celebrate!
The day before our wedding, Mr. Lace and I spent the day running errands, checking into hotels and getting ready for our rehearsal. I purposely woke up early that morning so that I’d be really tired at night and it would trump that nervous excitement that might keep me all night. After the rehearsal, Mr. Lace dropped Momma Lace and I off at our hotel and we parted ways.
And what did I do the night before the wedding? I took a shower and went to bed. Yup. That’s all. I was worried about getting tired midday and feeling sleepy on our wedding day. I think I crashed around 11 PM, but of course I woke up in the middle of the night, not because I couldn’t sleep, but because my mom was having some kind of dream where people were ordering her around and she yelled, “STOP!” really loud around 3 AM. I woke up with a start, but managed to fall asleep again pretty quickly.
The next morning, Momma Lace and I stopped at Starbucks to pick up some coffee before we met up with the bridesmaids to get ready. My fantastic hair and makeup artist, Kelly Zhang, was early and began working on the bridesmaids right away. We spent 4 hours getting ready, but the time zipped by super quickly. Before I knew it, my fabulous photographer, Hanssie Trainor, knocked on the door, stepped in and began snapping photos!
Before I share some photos from the morning of, here are a few things for those of you getting ready for your big day.

Becoming a bride is not an easy task! (It is a little easier when you have someone else doing your hair and makeup for you…) But still, you don’t just wake up with beautiful hair and makeup. You start out looking a little scary, especially if you get up early in the morning, like I did. You might start out a little something like this:

And the scariest part: that’s after makeup! However, slowly but surely, everything starts to come together. It’s a fun process to watch for sure!

Dear Hair:
Over the past 22 years that we have known each other, we’ve had a bit of a tumultuous relationship. There have been stretches of time when we got along just fine, and there have even been days where I thought you were pretty wonderful. Take, for example, the day that I got my high school senior photos done. We were on great terms that day.

Look at those curls! And that smile on my face…we were so happy then. Of course, we had some special help from the hair therapist that day. Very rarely have we gotten along that well without professional help.
Of course, then you have to take into consideration my entire childhood. We were NOT happy back then.
Oh, the wedding guestbook. When I think of wedding guestbooks, I think of white books with tons of lines that guests sign their names and possibly addresses on (and sometimes not even legibly!) and the bride and groom store away in some drawer or box after the wedding. Sounds like a waste to me.
I knew I wanted to do something a little different, in hopes that we would actually look at the guestbook more than once after the wedding. I made the mistake of looking online for inspiration and found so many different ideas.
Some of my favorite ideas were the wedding bench idea, seen in this post from Mrs. Apple Cider:

I have an addiction to crafting. I’ve purposely forced myself to shelve my supplies so I can set a limit on all of my wedding crafts. But that doesn’t help all the daydreams of projects I so want to do…
I love Taylor. And I love this idea! How cute would it be to string up pictures of us at the entrance of our reception? Adorable. But Mr. SD would kill me; I’m already asking the boys to hang 40 strands of string lights and 50 paper lanterns. So, buh-bye cuteness.
Four months ago today I married the love of my life. I can still remember just about every moment of that day—and our wedding video helps when I start to forget.
I look like I’m attacking Mr. Dolphin. I went in for the kiss so quick he barely had time to wrap his arms around me! I like to be in charge of the situation. Haha.

It would be easy to say that these last 4 months have been bliss—just perfection—but, in fact, we have been so busy we have barely had time to think. We are both exhausted.

I’m talking about my wedding night lingerie, of course
For some reason, choosing my duds for the night seemed like an overwhelming ordeal at first. See, I had it stuck in my head that wedding night lingerie has to be the “ultimate” in lingerie, the best he will ever see me in, so to speak. This set me up for failure, because whenever I came across something I liked, I would put off buying it because “something better might come along.” I was in despair of ever finding the “perfect” outfit until one day when I was browsing through an online lingerie shop and I realised, “Hey. This isn’t going to be the last time I wear lingerie. I will be able to wear pretty lingerie whenever I feel like it. So, perfection isn’t necessary here!”
After I figured out that, lingerie shopping suddenly became a lot more fun.

When I went shopping for my dress, I was accompanied by four of my six bridesmaids. Bmaid Jackie is my FSIL, and she was unable to drive all the way up from South Florida. Bmaid Jessica is a second-year med student in Tampa, so she was super busy. She was also heartbroken that she was unable to be there. To make it up to her, I told her she could pick out her dress.
I told my bridesmaids that I wanted them to match and I wanted them to wear a bright green. Bmaid Sara also added the stipulation that the dresses be cocktail length (she’s shorter and didn’t think she could pull off tea length…I appreciated her honesty). Bmaid Jessica couldn’t make it to Atlanta to shop together until June, so Bmaid Emily, Sister Lioness, and I did some preliminary research.
The one on the right came in a beautiful green…
So, I’m going to be honest: this is going to be a whole lot of pictures of the two of us. I thought about breaking it up into 2 separate posts, but I figured you all were going to see a ton of Mr. Fro Yo and me between now and the end of my recaps, so you can handle it.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way…we decided to do a first look. Not doing it was never really a consideration; we knew it was what was best for us. Also, my bridal party told me afterwards that they were SO glad we did it. I think that was primarily because it meant that we were able to take the pictures before the ceremony, which meant a quicker ceremony to party transition for them. I know it’s not super traditional, but I felt like it was just as special as him seeing me for the first time when I walked down the aisle. Actually, I take that back, I think it was even better because it was more intimate with just the two of us. We were able to laugh, cry, and smile with no one around.
So, I took to my hiding spot while Mr. Fro Yo came out:

I’m all about keeping up with your favorite wedding blogs using an rss reader. This is great for just reading, but what happens after you read a few hundred entries and you want to go back and find a specific picture of something? What about accessing all your planning stuff at someone else’s house? Don’t worry—this tech-savvy bride has the tools to help you.
I use a couple different tools to keep all my inspiration and documents accessible anytime from anywhere:
**NOTE: If you don’t already have one, you will need to sign up for a free Google account, but the account is used for ALL Google products, such as Google Reader, blogger.com, and all of the tools we are talking about on this blog. Yes, I heart Google!

As I mentioned before, we decided early on we wanted to have starfish escort cards. I had seen quite a few on the internet and thought nothing could be more perfect for our theme.
It seemed like such an easy project, and it really was, but it was so time intensive. I originally planned to print off the names and table numbers for each guest, but I decided I wanted a navy card with white writing, so I decided to write out each card. I now understand why calligraphy is so expensive. It takes forever! I’m no pro, so maybe that was the issue, but it took so long to write out each name and they are far from perfect. I can’t even imagine how calligraphers do it and make them look so perfect.
After weeks of writing out names a little at a time on my lunch breaks and while watching TV, it was time to add the table numbers.

When we picked out the ring in November, I didn’t tell my mom. I wanted to, but then I didn’t want her (or anyone) to repeatedly ask me if Mr. S had given me the ring yet.
After we got engaged, I ideally wanted to tell her in person, but I knew I couldn’t wait that long, so I called her literally minutes after it happened. And she was disappointed, but not mad, that I hadn’t told her earlier.
But she’s totally supportive and is ready to help. And my mom is a woman of many talents, but her biggest talent is that she’s an incredible thrift shopper. I mentioned to her just the other day that for centerpieces, I’d like to have some mismatched glass vessels on the tables. I sent her these photos for inspiration:
