Mrs. Husky, DenverAge and Occupation: 26, Systems AdministratorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Mechanical Engineer, recently laid offEngagement Date: August 14, 2009Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: Rancho San CarlosAbout Me: I am planning a quirky-crafty wedding with my recently out-of-work fiancé for a (fingers crossed!) warm October afternoon. We are two self-professed nerds with an affinity for all things outdoors---be it rain, snow or shine. Recently relocated from the drizzly Northwest, we're enjoying the many sun-soaked days in the mile high city. Our day will be filled with both of our large families and friends, a self-served Cajun feast, and a Zydeco-style jazz band rocking beneath the beams of a historic red barn.
Having an outdoor wedding in October in Colorado can either be warm, sunny and mild, or cold, cloudy and bitter. Obviously, I hope for the former. Just look at the last three years in Beulah:
Mrs. Earrings, Fresno, CA/ Nelson, New ZealandAge and Occupation: 20, Student, Wannabe Writer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography StudentEngagement Date: February 14, 2010Wedding Date: January 2011Venue: Gardens of the WorldAbout Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.
…Where do you put the wedding rings? I know the easy solution is to pop them in the best man’s pocket or let the maid of honour handle them, but we aren’t really inspired by those ideas. Let’s just say that the best man is a great guy but *ahem* not the most organised of men, and MOH Earrings will be worried about enough things already on the day. Also, we love our rings—we don’t want them hiding in a pocket! (You know…just ’cause we totally modest like that.)
I thought of making a ring pillow/ holder of some type anyway (and just having it sit on the register table during the ceremony instead of it being carried) because 1) there are so many cute ones out there, and 2) I dont know when to stop when it comes to projects. Well…Mr E talked me out of that idea, but just for fun let’s have a look at my ring thingamabob inspiration anyway. I had lace, embroidery and floral fabric on the brain:
These ones from Martha are pretty, and look fairly simple to whip up.
Mrs. Toucan, BostonAge and Occupation: 25, Full-time Research Assistant, Part-time Graduate StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, ActuaryEngagement Date: February 18, 2007Wedding Date: June 7, 2008Blogging Since: November 07, 2007Venue: St. Catherine of Genoa, Jin Asian Cuisine RestaurantAbout Me: I’m a Gemini to the extreme. On one side, I’m a girly girl. I read countless bridal and fashion magazines, and have an obsession with keeping up with the latest Hollywood gossip. On the other side, I’m a sports fanatic. Despite being a full-time bride-to be, full-time research assistant, and part-time student, I’m also a full-time Red Sox fan from spring training to October, and a full-time Patriots fan from mini-camp to February. I devote almost as much time researching my for fantasy football team as researching for our wedding!
Hi, I’m back with some more photos from our two-year anniversary shoot! We just got our disk from Agnieszka Wormus of A Brilliant Photo, and I immediately started pulling out my favorite photos…there are lots of favorites though, so here’s your warning: This is a photo heavy post!
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, DallasAge and Occupation: 28, Special Projects CoordinatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity TraderEngagement Date: March 19, 2009Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: Marie Gabrielle, DallasAbout Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
Let’s talk about flowers. I absolutely loved our flowers, and our florist, Haute Floral. I even went to see them a couple of days before the wedding as they were opening up. Not because I’m that crazy—okay, only partially because I’m that crazy. I also had to drop off some vases and shepherd’s hooks. But I mean, how could I not love them, look at them!
The wrap around my blooms was made from my mom’s wedding veil. And, the LOVE letters were made from vintage typewriter letters I bought off of eBay. Read more…

Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VAAge and Occupation: 25, Writer/EditorFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk ManagerEngagement Date: October 3, 2009Wedding Date: April 2011Venue: Oxon Hill ManorAbout Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.
I used to wear heels all the time. When I was in high school, I always tried to dress nicely. Even though it didn’t always come together perfectly, I tried. Luckily, my friends were some of the school’s fiercest fashionistas, and they always encouraged me to dress well.
We all loved buying shoes. And I’ve alwasy been a sucker for the highest heels.
My legs are my best feature, and everyone knows a high heel accentuates the legs. As a matter of fact, the weekend I met Mr. B, I wore nothing but platforms.
A few years ago, my perfect wedding shoes would have looked something like this:
Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/VermontAge and Occupation: 26, High School TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer EngineerEngagement Date: August 2008Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall ReceptionAbout Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
With the premiere of TLC’s “Sister Wives” this weekend, there has been a lot of talk on television/radio about polygamy. It seems that many people (myself included) are fascinated by the inner workings of such a family. For a feminist like me, the first reaction to such an arrangement is disgust: Why would these women want to share their man? How do they deal with jealousy? Don’t they have the self esteem to say “I, alone, am enough for my husband”?
Mrs. Scissors, LaGrange, GAAge and Occupation: 25, Photography & Graphic DesignFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Engineering Grad StudentEngagement Date: January 1, 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house!About Me: I’m a six-foot-three bride with a fifty-foot personality! I love great art, fabulous design, intense color, tons of music, indie photography, watching movies on repeat, and being really awesome. This super-tall, Southern, loud, quirky, neurotic artist is marrying a German, quiet, silly, super-amazing roboticist in an eclectic, funky, fun, snazzy, technicolored June wedding. Anything is game for this shindig, for it is all about us! We’re bringing giant paper cranes, six-foot-tall portraits, fortune cookies, a photo booth, a club-circuit DJ, handcuffs, and possibly a kidnapping to this small Southern town. Watch out, y’all, and try to keep up!
After the rehearsal dinner was finished, most people would have gone to bed, right? Beauty rest and all that? Well, Laura, Mr. Scissors and I went back to the house to construct the Smilebooth backdrop. (Thankfully I’d already pre-cut and measured the streamers, so all we had to do was throw.) At about 10 minutes to midnight, we realized something. Read more…
Ms. Sloth, PhiladelphiaAge and Occupation: 35, Account Manager and Fashion BloggerFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Design AdminEngagement Date: December 25, 2009Wedding Date: May 2011Venue: Bartram's GardenAbout Me: I'm an internet junkie and music snob with a good eye for a bargain. I couldn't live without thrift store shopping, cheeseburgers, sushi, Coke Zero, websites devoted to silly photos of baby animals, Photoshop, and Mr. Sloth. Speaking of which, he and I are a pair of goofball homebody nerds who love our beagle (the most ridiculously adorable dog EVER) to an embarrassing degree. We're planning a low-key and intimate yet festive and quirky outdoor wedding with DIY details and deeply personal touches, and it's all taking place in the city where we fell in love and call home: Philadelphia.
About two months after we got engaged, I met with Matt and Lauren from Morrissey Photo* at a little coffee shop near my place. And I love them. Their prices are within our budget, which is a miracle in itself. Their portfolio is small but gorgeous. And, perhaps most importantly, they were super nice and fun. They’re a married couple, which puts me at ease. It just feels right to have a married couple photograph our wedding.
Also, instead of having some cheesy love song playing on their site like most wedding photographers, they had “Hey Hey Hey” by Room Eleven playing, which was awesome.
But look at some of their photos. Could you die? They’re so relaxed and romantic and pretty and soft. Love.

I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).
Hive, I owe you big time. I was totally ready to give up after my failed embossing attempt, but thanks to all the suggestions and a little patience (and another pack of envelopes), I have some really spiffy looking invitation envelopes. Sweet!
I tried several different things between the first round of fail and this final round, but these combination of changes seemed to do the trick: Read more…

I could probably eat chips and queso every day but instead I eat popcorn. I use the word “awesome” way too much but I just can’t seem to stop myself. I am addicted to all things DIY and am planning what I call a Texas-Chic wedding. I love snuggling with my two adorable dogs and of course, my adorable fiance. I can’t wait 'til I can call him my husband some day! October 2010, here we come!
At last. I finally did a trial run of my wedding cake. Here’s a reminder of what I was aiming for:
I decided to just make one tier just to get an idea of what it’ll look like on the big day. I’d say it was a success. Sure, there are some adjustments that need to be made, but overall, a success!
I started the night before by making royal icing for the detail work on the cake. Read more…

I know, I know. There are severalposts about my dress shopping, but this time was different. This was dress shopping for my best friend and MOH for her wedding (which is now just around the corner!).
Back in April, MOH Navy was in town, so I joined her and her parents for what was supposed to be a weekend full of dress shopping. Little did we know that she would find THE dress at the first store.
Now I won’t share her dress until after her wedding, but it looks amazing on her…then again, everything looked amazing on her because she is a beautiful girl!
After a quick bite to eat, we headed to Alfred Angelo so I could try on bridesmaids dresses. MOH Navy had narrowed it down to four dresses between AA and David’s Bridal the weekend before when her cousin BM Cali (a BM for both of our weddings) was in town, but we ended up trying on other styles just to see how they looked.

I’ve been thinking about the music to play in the art gallery before the ceremony begins for months. With guests roaming the gallery, it’s a perfect time to put on some tunes that King Hippo and I both love while also setting the tone for the evening. The art gallery also has an amazing sound system that I can plug an iPod into, so that will be super easy. While I could definitely come up with hours of music that would be appropriate, I figure we need roughly 45 minutes or so of pre-ceremony music.
Here are the songs that will likely be on the playlist:
