Mrs. Brooch's Picture
Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.
About Mrs. Brooch

Whew! That project was a lot more work than I anticipated, but so much fun! I still can’t believe we did it. We made our own save the dates! Yay! Fabulous ones, too! Big, lovely magnets with our awesome engagement photos on them. Double score! Now, since I made you wait so long to see the final product, I thought I’d let my adorable pup, Rocko, share the first look. Isn’t he cute?

I’m so happy with the way that the envelopes turned out. Especially the labels.

It’s what’s inside that counts, though.

We chose three different designs for the magnets. The first is my favorite:

Notice that we rounded the corners, like Mrs. Sunrise!

Here you can see the piles. I’m so glad we’re not having a big wedding (well, not too big). I can’t imagine making 200 of these puppies!

All ready to go! We just have to stamp ’em.

Tell me about your save the dates. Did you make magnets? How did you package them?

Very nice. We did magnets too, but I wrapped them in gift wrap and tied them up like a present. Then I wrote “We’re tying the knot” on the outside of the gift wrap and just stuck them in our Christmas cards. They arrived about six months before our June wedding.

These are beautiful! Thanks so much for posting so much about your save the dates. I am now planning on doing something with 4×6 magnets (I had before planned on business card sized ones). I am trying to work out a budget for this project, so I have 1 question: how much did postage cost to mail these?

These are fantastic, I can’t believe you did them yourselfs!
Yes we did STD, but I didn’t design myself (I don’t have time or patience, so BRAVO to you!) I ordered magnets too, but instead of a picture of ourselves it said “Save the date for a fall classic wedding” For those who don’t know what the “Fall Classic” is, it’s the World Series, we’re Phillies fans and having a cocktail hr that’s baseball themed. Our guests LOVED them!

@Miss Brooch: OMG - these are BEEE-YOOOOtiful. How did you get the pictures onto the magnets (or where did you send your photos to be made into magnets)? *sorry if I missed this info in a previous post*
