I can usually be found with my nose in a book, my feet (or at least my toes) on the ground, my head in the clouds, and my arm around the prettiest girl you ever saw- aka Fiancee Stripes. Together we’re planning a FUN vintage/modern French carnival wedding extravaganza and rockin’ dance party on a dime. (Say that three times fast!) Good coffee, long lists, Uniball pens, and my iPhone keep me sane, and making art, making trouble, and making out keep me happy! I love urban adventures, bike rides that end with afternoon drinks, breakfast for dinner, beautiful light, photography, travel, my furry family, and of course, my beautiful fiancee! About Ms. Stripes

Lest you thought I stopped blogging because I didn’t like you guys anymore, I will now offer up a few pitiful excuses for my long absence. It’s the perfect storm, really: we both got uber colds two days post wedding, our internet broke (oh, the boredom!) and then we went back to work. Bummer. And here I am at the end of work week one (and our first week of shooting, so a particular doozy) finally taking a minute to say hi. So *tentative wave* HI!

*Drum roll. I now present project parade. A series of blog posts in which I detail our last minute DIY projects and adventures leading up to the wedding. It’s part procrastinating while we wait for our pro pics, part giving you what I owe you, and part showing off the cuteness. Oh! And it’s an ode to alliteration, too.

Up first? Table Numbers.

Now I’ve seen other brides put a ton of time and effort into creating some unique, awesome, and fabulously original ones, and yet despite the potential for cuteness, table numbers never ranked very high on my DIY list. *Scratches head. Not sure why that is. In fact, they ranked so low, that I completely forgot about them until a few days before the wedding. Oops.

Luckily I had seen this post on Ruffled oh so many months ago and promptly bought a bunch of Tolsby frames from IKEA.

With just days to go before the wedding, we took a little time out and headed to Wurstkuche for sausage & beer. Best apple/sage veggie sausage ever, BTW. YUM. And as luck would have it, as we paid for our meal and I went to drop a little something in their tip jar, inspiration struck!

And it looked like this:

Later that evening while F Stripes and her ladies worked on our AMAZING music lineup, I spent about a half hour cutting and stamping our table numbers. Simple. Cute. Modern. And easy. I have to admit I was very pleased with the end result despite its simplicity and my procrastination. Or maybe the bridal bliss had already begun to set in….You tell me!

Here they are:

We only had 4 long banquet tables, so hopefully the counting wasn’t overwhelming for our inebriated guests! What about you? Has inspiration struck in any strange (or delicious) places? Are there any last minute projects you’re particularly proud of?

Gorgeous! I was going to do the same IKEA frames, but when I went (having procrastinated til 2 weeks before the wedding)… they only had 5. And I needed 9. So I got the smaller wood framed ones (3 per 2$ package), and the teeny little wooden easels to put them on. Worked fine. (Turned out the wooden ones didn’t have the plastic ‘glass’ to protect the numbers, but I figured no one would notice. Just slapped sticky black numbers from Michaels on pretty scrapbooking paper that had some relation to our colors… and it looked beautiful. :P)

I love IKEA. They don’t have the frames in stock at my local store, but I will be bugging them for an estimated delivery date! Your tables look very nice!

@Miss Tattoo: Hmm. Not sure if it would be cost effective for you or not, but let me know if you wanna buy my frames and have me send ‘em! I think I have around 24?!

They were OUT of Tolsby at the Brooklyn Ikea- despite the website telling me they had thousands in stock. We got regular wood white frames though, and I too am fairly proud of said last minute project :) Yours are so cute!

Ooh, time to head to IKEA–thanks for the inspiration! (And I may have to drag FH to Wurstkuche next time I’m out there.)

[...] love. You may have seen them around on the ‘Bee before (featured in Mrs Stripes‘ and Mrs Dolphin’s weddings, and probably more that I’ve forgotten!) and you’ll see them [...]
