The Ceremony That Wasn’t

October 4th, 2010 @ 4:23 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

You may have noticed that it has been a little while since my last recap. I did have a busy week at work, but that’s only partially the reason. The other part is that I’m sad about our ceremony. The words were perfect, no one fell, and our handfasting ceremony was carried out without a glitch, so what the hell is my problem? Well, it’s the location. I envisioned a beautiful outdoor garden ceremony for over a year, and the weather just didn’t want to cooperate. I even stayed away from the hive for a while after the wedding because I had major wedding jealousy. I’m talking to you, Mrs. Turtle! That’s so lame of me, especially when this community was so supportive during my whole planning process. But, it just made me sad that our wedding ceremony wasn’t as I hoped.

I’ve had the hardest time getting over this part because everything else was scheduled to be indoor/outdoor, so it wasn’t a big deal if we were inside for dancing—it’s pretty much how I pictured it. But the ceremony…ugh. The one saving grace is that we did a first look outside, and all our bridal party pictures outside. During that time, my wedding coordinator, Lisa, came over to break the news to me that we were indeed going to move the ceremony in. Her exact words were, “We’re not going to have a Bachelor moment here.” She was so right. I was just really sad. So I cried.

And my niece hugged me.

But, then I was reminded that all that mattered was that we were getting married. And, everyone was right. So, I moved on, and the ceremony started.

The parents started it off. First Mr. Fro Yo’s parents, then my mom and one of our ushers:

And then the groomsmen and the bridesmaids:

And the flower girls and ring bearers:

Then it was just my brother and me left

He walked me down the aisle and gave me away on behalf of my family:

We gazed at each other and said our vows:

And exchanged rings:

And got tied together:

And had our first kiss and hug as husband and wife!

We hugged and chatted with our bridal party:

And spent our first few minutes together as a newly married couple:

Up next, the party gets started!!

Oh, Mrs. Fro Yo… your ceremony was beautiful nonetheless… and you looked so gorgeous!

Oh Fro Yo, I’m sorry you were disappointed! But you know what - the pictures of your faces, of your smiles, are so much more meaningful than any background - you two are glowing, and that is more beautiful than any outdoor setting. Congrats again.

I agree that your ceremony was beautiful regardless, though I understand being upset - I think that if we’d had to move our ceremony indoors, that would have been the one thing that could seriously have upset me on our wedding day. I also have to say that your veil looks gorgeous on you.

Gorgeous lady! So sorry you missed out because of the rain! Pooey on the weather doesn’t it know better? I think your ceremony was beautiful nonetheless and love that you can still see the green in the background.

Mrs FroYo! What I love about your ceremony pictures is that you can see the trees in the windows and it makes it seem like you are outside!! AND you look so gorgeous and happy!!

Your ceremony was still so incredibly gorgeous, inside or out. I love your wedding! That last picture of you and Mr. Fro Yo sporting your bands is so cute!

I have wedding JEALOUSY right now! What an awesome and beautiful ceremony!

You can always renew your vows in a few years or so to have it just the way you wanted.

Wow, that’s still beautiful in front of those windows. If my venue had windows like that, my first choice would probably be the indoor ceremony anyway.

you look marvelous in your pictures, fro yo! and while it was not the dreamy garden wedding, the all mirror background was so stunning. big hugs and congratulations to you!

i know that had to be disappointing to have it indoors after all this time–damn you, weather! but the best part of your ceremony is the beautiful, sweet emotions on your and mr. froyo’s faces, no matter where the ceremony physically took place. (oh, and getting married and vows and everything, those are great, too)

I feel your pain, sister…It’s sooooo disappointing when the weather ruins plans bc there’s absolutely NOTHING you can do about it, dammit!
For what it’s worth, with those beautiful tapered candles and the view of the outdoors with those large windows, I think your ceremony space was gorgeous! As are your smiles :)

That sucks about the rain, but it looks like you had a beautiful ceremony. I love the candelabras.

Even though you had to move it inside (which is something I worry about with our outdoor wedding), your ceremony pictures are beautiful! You look so amazing and I love the pictures at the alter with the trees in the background.

It’s so so beautiful! I love the candelabra and the bright greenery right outside the window. I think it makes it a little more intimate at least. Thanks for coming back and sharing :)

I think your ceremony is gorgeous. The windows, the candelabras, the arch. Awesome!

And that’s a gorgeous dress.

I’m sorry you didn’t get your outdoor ceremony BUT I am in love with the details at your ceremony indoors. It’s stunning and different and beautiful - you’re so lucky you ended up having such a nice ‘other option’. Beautiful! :D
