Mrs. Hippo's Picture
Mrs. Hippo, New York City/Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 34, Event Planner for a Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance IT Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Samuel Lynne Galleries and Marc Events About Me: I’m a thirty-something bride living in New York City and planning a modern-ish wedding in Dallas, Texas. I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).

E-Pics: Outfitting My Feet

October 4th, 2010 @ 11:43 am by Mrs. Hippo

Our engagement photos are next week (yikes!), and while I’ve pretty much figured out what I’m wearing (as discussed here, here and here), there’s one thing I haven’t yet thought about. Shoes. And after seeing these adorable pics, I realized that I need to get on it…and quick!

If I didn’t have such hideous feet (thank you years of professional dancing!) I would opt for something like this:

So…I’m on a mission. Five days before we leave. Two pairs of shoes that are photo worthy. And I don’t have a lot of money to spend. Wish me luck, hive!

Share the shoes you’ll be wearing in your engagement pictures in the comments!

Ooh, good luck! I would go with a pair of flats & a pair of heels.. nice to give your feet a break {and for some casual shots} every now and then! x

Glad to know I am not the only one who didn’t remember about the shoes. I didn’t remember until the day of so I just wore my everyday sketchers. ;)

Aww shoes are fun! I built both my e-pic outfits around the shoes (hehe)… red patent Paris Hilton “Senorita” w/ the big bow on the peep toe (how could I resist at half price??) and slouchy Steve Madden cowgirl boots (w/ a heel of course). Oh i loved them.

Hmmm…., Ms. H, I do not believe for one second that a stylish New Yorker like yourself…yes ma’am, I know you are stylish :)… does not have a closet full of gorgeous salivating shoes. I can’t help, not doing e-pics but I am a big fan of high heels but not stilettos. I wear some Mary Janes too. Love them. However, since you are leaning towards wearing a VS dress, what better way to show them off than those cowboy boots in the first picture? Century 21 is always having a sale and they are opening one uptown in the old Barnes and Nobles on 66th. The high heels will look nice with a pair of jeans and a newsboy hat (that what they are called?) Can’t wait to see how everything turns out :)

Shoes were the one thing I could pick out before the dress (which I’m still not set on a week and a half out!)
FH has a collection of black captoe Florsheims so it only makes sense that I wear my black velvet Forsheim oxfords (they haven’t made women’s shoes in 40 years so I had to dig them up at a retro shop back home). I’m going to be in pain that day (especially since we are going dancing the night before and that night) but I think it’s worth it.

I wore suede boots up to my ankles. They’re flats, so they were super comfortable, and I love the look. I also brought a pair of ballerina flats I switched into to change the look too! So I think it’s a good idea to go for 2 pair! Cute inspiration pics too, btw! Although I couldn’t do the barefoot shots either, lol!
