Guess What I Did on Friday?

October 5th, 2010 @ 11:14 am by Mrs. Knitting

I mailed our invites!

I took these:

Guess What I Did on Friday? : wedding invitations stationery toronto Invites

and brought them to the ugliest looking mailbox I could find:

Guess What I Did on Friday? : wedding invitations stationery toronto Invites01

and now they’re off! Um, except for the few that are still in our apartment because there’s still some relatives’ addresses that have not been communicated yet…

I found mailing (most of) our invites really exciting. I feel like it is one of those major steps in the wedding planning process that makes you feel like the wedding is actually happening. The other major one for me was booking our venue.

What made you realize your wedding is really happening?

How awesome! Those invites look deliciously adorable. Perfect for the ugly mailbox. :)

I think my “OMG I’m getting married” moment was the first time I put a veil on at the bridal shop. I’d tried dresses on, but the veil (even though it wasn’t one I was getting) was the freeze-frame moment!

I think getting back responses made me realize the wedding was really happening….not only did I mail the invitations, but people are actually going to come to this shin-dig!?

buying our wedding bands together was the one thing so far that has made me feel like this is really happening. Of course trying the dress on was amazing and all the planning thus far has been great but the wedding bands are really what symbolize marriage for me.

Going to a friends wedding this weekend. I realized, “Holy crap, that’s going to be me.” And I mean holy crap in the best possible way.

I agree with @Nikki Moore, putting on a veil with my wedding dress was the game changer for me. I really looked and felt like a bride at that moment. But sending out our save the date postcards did make it seem official.

I agree - sending the invitations was one of those “it’s really happening” moments. The wedding planning was no longer just in our apartment and people were really going to start making plans!

Mailing my wedding invitations must’ve made my heart skip several beats! Dropping them a few at a time into the mailbox and watching them fall down the black hole led me to prayer, hoping they’d get where they were supposed to go! I handmade my invitations, I’d spent so much time on them, and releasing them into the postal system lifted a lot off my shoulders. I was glad to be able to move on to spending time on other wedding projects. :)

Congratulations! That is a big step! Cute invites, btw! My moment (I hear ya, Nikki!) was finding the veil. The second it was on my head it was…OMG. I’m getting married. REALLY. =-) Great moments!

I love invitations! Did you have another post about what the actual invitations look like, or is that coming? I love paper!

I want to see the invites. Maybe I missed a post. Anyway, I don’t think it hit me I was getting married until my younger sister flew in from Seattle. Then I cried, happy to see her and I really was getting married.

Can’t wait to send ours out (of course that means I have to put them together first)! For me, sending out the save the dates was the first “this is really happening moment”.

That is a seriously ugly mailbox hahaha. What happened to the blue ones with an eagle on the side?

I haven’t had that moment yet. I have no idea when or where it will happen, but I’m a big ball of emotion, so guaranteed there will be tears.

So far my moment was when we went to our venue last weekend 30 minutes before another wedding was supposed to start. We got to see the reception area all set up, the staff bustling around finishing up the last minute details. It was just that moment of… soon this will be for US!
