I love my girlfriends.

They are passionate, loyal, and always entertaining. They are my pillars of strength and my daily inspiration.

My favorite girls are also incredibly style savvy. The love of accessorizing, my fascination for contemporary designers, and my adoration of exquisite footwear? Yep, I have my girlfriends to thank for fueling my love affair with fashion.

So for the three ladies who I am proud to call my maids-of-honor, the last thing I wanted was for them to wear the same dress, the same shoes, the same jewelry, and the same hairstyle. They are unique and magnificent in their own ways…and I wanted to find a dress that allowed each to celebrate her stellar personal style.

And after a whole lot of magazine reading and online shopping, I found it.

Two Birds creates dresses that are chic, comfy (thank heaven for silk jersey!), and versatile. Yep, the brilliance of a Two Birds frock is you can style it up to ten different ways. TEN! Sweetheart strapless, seventies-chic halter, Grecian-goddess one-shoulder, or graceful cap sleeves are only a few of the looks each piece can transform into. And they come in an impressive range of rich colors and stunning neutrals.

This might be the most brilliant bridemaid dress ever.

And for our little beach day, since the florals and decor will be in a festive family of metallics and playful pop shades, we’ve opted to have our wedding entourage in shades of gray. My lovely ladies will be donning the chic, dark slate number pictured above, short or long depending on each’s style, which makes this dress reusable for any future non-wedding soirees. Genius!

So for all of us brides-to-bee, here is a fantastic frock that doesn’t have to expire after one wedding day.

What BM dresses are you dreaming of for your special day, fellow bees? And colors! Let’s share our marvelous colors, please. :)

I love those dresses. Have you seen the new ones at DB that are like these? Little different style but same principle.

Very cute! When we were looking for dresses, we looked into the Victoria’s Secret convertible dresses similar to those.

I came across this dress during my search. Of course I feel in love with it but not the price. I couldn’t justify having my girls spend that much for a dress…even if they can actually wear it again! So we have decided to make them. All they are are 4 pieces of fabric and poof you have the dress for however much you can find fabric for!

I want these dresses! But my bridesmaids are a little nervous about how secure they are, so I’m taking one to try them on! I want a really deep magenta, like spiced wine for our July wedding.

I tried making those dresses because I love them, but they;re just too expensive. Then I found a job. Boo!

I considered these…
They are so pretty in the pictures, but so difficult to wear.
It takes a slammin’ body to pull these off.
If this is the route you go with there are much more affordable options than 2 Birds. I would look into VS, Etsy, Avon, David’s, or having a seamstress (or a talented friend) make them.

I love how these look in pics with lots of tall, skinny BMs, but we couldn’t use them because almost all of the styles can’t be worn with a bra, and the jersey can be less than forgiving of a curvy figure.

I did the whole “let them pick their own”. As long as it was knee-length and black (I mean, who doesn’t have a little black dress?) and they wore it with boots, we were all good!

We tried those.. but they are so open in the back and boob areas that my girls didn’t like them - plus we’re having a winter wedding, so understandable. They are BEAUTIFUL fabrics, though!

I loved the idea of the convertible dress- only to realize only one girl had a hope of being comfortable. There looks to be no room for a bra, which is a must. Instead they are picking their own with a few guidelines from me.

I’m only have two BM’s so I am letting them do their own thing. My only instructions are feel pretty, and pick dresses that look good next to each other. They both have great taste and are far more bold with colors and fabrics than I am. I can’t wait to see what they pick.

I only have two BMs who insisted I pick a dress for them…beautiful short, sweetheart, strapless, silk crepe. However, I stepped into a lovely local vintage store last week where the dresses are organized by color and I am so sad I didn’t take them there to just pick out their own dresses. I know they’ll be lovely, but ya know.

@Bridey: Great tips, bridey! The toughest part has been finding the color we want in these other options….but the gals love them, which was the most important thing :)

We are doing the same dresses, but we’re getting them made from Etsy. At first we were going to make them, but finding fabric in the color I want turned out to be harder than I expected. As for the concerns that some bees had about the wear-ability on all body types… Google Monif C. She’s a plus size designer that carries the same dress. She has a youtube channel with instructional videos on all different ways to wrap the dress, all very “forgiving” and flattering. And you can wear a full-coverage bra with most of the styles.

I love the two birds dresses. I similarly wanted something that let each girl express their own style in a semi-coordinated way. We went with Aria dresses (slightly cheaper than the two birds) in knee length periwinkle silk shantung and each girl got to pick her own style (there are like 40 options!). They all ended up choosing different styles and they looked fabulous at the wedding!
