I enjoy the color pink, I'm obsessed with the Dior New Look and tulle, and I heart my level 80 paladin. I'm a sucker for bad TV, literary theory, and cakes of all persuasion. I also happen to be marrying the cutest closet nerd around! It's all about Bloomington for us because it's where we met -- on the college paper. If there's a theme for our small summertime wedding, it's Dior meets Dorothy Draper on a lark in Bloomington; think poofy, plus graphic prints, bold colors, and a whole lot of prettiness.

Love in Bloom: That's Where It's At : wedding bloomington pictures pro pics recap 5055801 01

We kind of sped up the cocktail hour because I’m awkward and don’t mingle well (yes), so we segued into our first dance.

We had a shortlist for first dance songs, but ended up choosing Sam Cooke’s “That’s Where It’s At.” Incidentally our DJ, Michael of The Flashdance, just listed this song as the best first dance song. Represent. (Hint: That blog post of his has a ton of great ideas for first dance songs, check it out!)

We totally did the high school sway because I just didn’t leave enough time to take dance lessons. So the take away here is if you’re really humiliated doing junior high dancing in front of people, take dance classes early! Or be like me and laugh through the whole thing because our awkwardness is palpable. So cute.

Love it! We didn’t get our lessons either, but hubby swung me around and it was fun.

We totally just swayed. Hubby doesn’t dance in general. Despite the fact that he’s a drummer, he can’t really move his body to the beat.

Thanks for linking to your DJ’s picks! I swooned over “This Will be Our Year” when another been walked down the aisle to it, and now my new obsession is the Geno Washington song.

We are having a band, which we are jazzed about, but some of these songs (Washington included) I’m not sure will translate as covers because the originals are so inimatable.

Tons and tons of win.

Mr. Scissors threw me around the dancefloor. I was laughing like a nut half of the time. Good times.

You two are too cute! We will definitely be doing the junior high sway at our reception. Far classier than the high school prom bump and grind.

Well, you may have been laughing because you felt awkward about dancing, but the result is pictures where you look pretty and SO happy. Good job you.
