Mrs. Hot Wings's Picture
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego Age and Occupation: 28, Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor Engagement Date: December 20, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
About Mrs. Hot Wings

With this Wing: Welcome to Our Wedding Weekend : wedding pictures recap san diego Bridal Bridal-

To start off the festivities, Hottie of Honor and I invited out-of-town guests and family to a Welcome Reception at two different locations. We had a Ladies’ Happy Hour and a Groom’s Get Together. The ladies got the pretty villa, while the lads got the backyard of the smaller house across the street. We had a purple themed event that Hottie of Honor fully stocked with all of my favorite things!

Chateau St. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon wine, Newcastle beer, macaroons, red velvet cake, baked brie, brownies, and a “purple haze” cocktail that Mr Hot Wings concocted. I don’t have pictures of the other foods, but Mama Hot Wings and Cousin Hot Wings also spent all day wrapping egg rolls, marinating skewered meats, and making fried rice for both of these events.

Don’t you love it when people dress to match the theme? Cute huh? From left to right that’s me, Auntie, Mama Hottie, and New Mama Hottie. Even cuter still were the button themed details!

Buttons on our name tags and a button ring making station! Hottie Sister in Law and Hottie A (aka Mrs Pashmina) got in on the action making their button rings. Check out some of the creativity in this crew. Hottie of Honor really went above and beyond! She’s definitely a woman after my own heart. Can you tell?

It was lovely to have separate groom’s and bride’s events because many of the couples got split up. People didn’t have to check up on their significant others. They got to be individuals first, and a plus one second. For example, Hottie of Honor had her boyfriend with her for the weekend. All the uncles and guy friends got to know him as “C” instead of Hottie of Honor’s boyfriend. It was great.

After watching the sunset, I busted out the s’mores packets I had made for some campfire time.

Of course, the boys got bored after a while and decided to come and invade our event.

And with the boys came the shenanigans. I’m still trying to figure out what was going on in these photos. No one remembers. Ha!

It was a wonderful way to start the festivities! If you’re considering having a welcome reception, I highly recommend it. It was a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends without really thinking about wedding stuff!

First of all…love your recaps title. Secondly, it looks like your welcome events were awesome! You can’t go wrong with smores.

Did you have a lot of people coming from out of town? Or did you just have a “welcome” because it seemed fun? I’m just wondering because we’ll be the only out-of-towners at our wedding and I don’t want to assume everyone wants to devote their entire weekend to my wedding (though how could they not wat to? Have they heard how awesome it’s going to be?)

I plan on having smores at my rehearsal dinner. Yours looked like a blast and I can only hope mine will be as much fun. Love these recaps.

@Miss Peach Tree: We did have a lot of OOT guests. Aside from my immediate family, only 2 local people came. Everyone else in attendance was visiting from out of town.

OMG Hot Wings, our “favorite things” list is seriously almost exactly the same. We should get together sometime to eat all of those things. My heart just soars at the thought of baked Brie.
