Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

It did not all happen in just one day, as that would be way too busy!

I had a bridal shower thanks to my dear MIL, and then the weekend after that, we had my bachelorette party/birthday party. Both were pretty awesome weekends. So, let’s start with the first one.

Bridal Shower

My MIL organized a bridal shower for me with most of her friends and family (at that point I didn’t really have many friends in California, so I borrowed hers).

She did such a great job! and I am so thankful. The food was awesome and the games were super fun.

She had everyone set up baskets with themes as presents, and the poodle stufffed animal in my first present was one of my favorites!

Another gift tradition was this very cool and fun babydoll dress. It took me a while to figure what it was, so once I did it was extra funny.

An the most touching moment was when my MIL’s Aunt Margaret handed me her grandma’s engagement ring for my “something old,” a tradition they have been carrying on for a very long time now. Inside the box there was a card for me, and another one that has been signed by all the brides in the family that had worn the ring on their wedding day. At that moment I really felt like I was a part of the family already, so I couldn’t help but  cry. It was a very special moment to remember and we honored the brides that are not longer with us.

My MIL and Mimi (MIL’s mom) baked me not just one, but two super tasty cakes—a pretty bride and a flower basket cake. :) They were so good!

Bachelorette and b-day party

This time I had nothing to wear so a few hours before we had to leave I grabbed some fabric I had around and added some tulle on the inside. I added an elastic, a few stitches, and I had the perfect skirt.

I paired it with a shirt, a belt and I was ready to go. :)

We headed to a restaurant first to have dinner. Once we got there my friend Katy pulled out this goodie bag with a sash, tiara and very sassy props for all of us.

Shannon’s face when she saw them is priceless. :)

And one of my favorites: my very own “bun pincher”

My MIL and SIL joined us later for the fun.

Our waitress that night was awesome. She helped Katy with games and made the waiters play with us. They read their cards and did funny challenges with us, and  even posed in our pictures.

After dinner it was time for Katy’s special cupcakes!!

But not before I completed the last challenge and got one of the waiter’s belts. It was pretty funny and after I read the card, he just took it off and handed it to me saying, “I will need it back, though.”

After that we headed off to dance, where my MIL had me up in the screen. How sweet of her!!

We had so much fun trying to learn how to line dance, and even though I didn’t plan to,  I danced with a man. But, how could I have said no? After all, I had to learn to be able to dance at the wedding.

I also got the chance to ride a mechanic bull for the first time ever.

I know what you might be thinking, but don’t worry, I brought pants for that part!

They were both awesome weekends and I am so thankful that my friends and MIL did all of this for me. It makes me feel so loved!

Um, you just whipped that skirt together, did you?! Looks like you had a great time at your celebrations. The ring story was tremendous and the cupcakes looked, um, delectible. ;)

Um. “I didn’t have anything to wear so i just threw this together from stuff I had lying around the house and proceeded to look adorable”? Can we be friends?

Plus, awesome about riding the mechanical bull. I am always too afraid of looking like a jerk to try it.
