One thing the mister and I paid special attention to was our reception playlist. We meticulously picked out each and every one of the songs we wanted played at our wedding and even burned CDs for the DJ in case he didn’t have a song on hand. Of course, we gave him the discretion to play what was on the list and when. That being said, each song we picked had special meaning to us—either it defined a moment in our seven-and-a-half year courtship (at that point) or it had special meaning to one (or more) of our guests with whom we’ve shared special moments with.
For example, I believe I’ve mentioned that all of our groomsmen were our high school classmates (go Stuy!), so we had to play “Blue” by Eiffel 65 for our GM George because we remembered he had an ungodly fascination with the song back in the day. Lo and behold, the moment the song played at our wedding, he rushed to the dance floor! You could say it was a “soundtrack to our lives.”

Rewind back to eight days before the wedding when we were happily reminiscing and making this playlist. I told Mr. Lovebird that we had to play “Thank You” by Dido because I happened to know it was the favorite song of two of our special guests. Of course, they didn’t know all the words, but when I heard them “trying” to sing along while it played in the car when the three of us were in the backseat of their parents’ car months earlier, my heart melted. By the way, if oyu ever asked our flower girl and ring beare what their favorite song was, they would confidently reply, “Track 1.” Aren’t they the cutest?
Anyways, fast forward back to the wedding day, and the dance floor was empty because we were eating dinner. “Thank You” started playing.

As evidenced by the picture above, these two clung close to me most of the night, so it wasn’t hard for me to ask little Devan if he wanted to dance. Plus, seeing their eyes light up when the song started playing was priceless!

It wasn’t long until his sister, Divya, joined us.

So I took them for a little spin around the dance floor, just the three of us!

And because I thought it would be cute if the two of them shared a special moment together…

The picture below happens to be one of my favorites from the whole night!

This dance is up there with our first dance and the father-daughter dance. For those moments, it seemed like it was just the three of us, enjoying the happiest day of my life and sharing our special song.
