I promise I won’t talk about engagement rings forever. Mr. Jaguar always laughs at me when I share our story in so much detail, but I just tell him that after having almost three months of planning the wedding while the ring was off being resized, I’m allowed. A girl’s gotta pass the time somehow!
So if you remember from last time, our estimated wait time for the e-ring to be shipped off to New York, resized, and then delivered back to London was 10–12 weeks. We’d bought a temporary piece of costume jewelery for me to wear in the meantime (which, funnily enough, a lot of people complimented me on!), and then all we could do was wait.
And wait. And twiddle our thumbs. And wait some more.
A friend of mine suggested we tell the company that we had our engagement party coming up and to see if they could put a priority on the resizing. (We didn’t have one coming up, and they couldn’t do that anyway, so no luck there!) Another friend mentioned telling them we had a holiday abroad coming up, and couldn’t they keep us updated every now and again about where the ring was? This also did not bring a great deal of progress.
In fact, there was no progress at all until almost ten weeks in, when we received a call from the jewelers, saying that the ring was finished being resized in NYC and was on its way to London to be hallmarked. The message ended with the lady thanking us for our patience and reassuring us that the ring would be back with us soon. Cut to insanely excited wailing and screeching from me. THE RING! IS COMING! BACK! And cut to an insanely relieved expression from Mr. Jaguar, probably because he wouldn’t have to hear me talking about it. ALL. THE. TIME.

OK, so this wasn’t taken at that exact time…but you get the idea.
That message made the wait even more bittersweet: I knew the ring was nearly finished, but I still had to wait for it to be completed. My patience snapped about a week later, and I ended up harassing Mr. Jaguar to make a phone call and see what stage it was at. He was told by a customer service rep that the ring was still in New York and not expected back in London for another few weeks yet.
Looking back, I think it’s safe to say that this is when I had my first Bridezilla moment. Ten weeks of waiting does not a happy fiancé make!
I flipped out a bit and sent a panicked email to the store—asking them exactly where the ring was and why we’d received two conflicting stories. We got a call the next day apologising for the confusion and restating the first message: it’s in London, but not ready yet. Back to the waiting game.
One afternoon I arrived home early, just after Mr. Jaguar got in. He was standing in front of our wardrobe looking like a deer caught in the headlights and blurted out, “What are you doing home so early?” He looked so guilty that I asked what he was doing, and he sighed and told me I’d spoiled his surprise—and then pulled out the ring!
Best of all, it hugged my finger snugly and suited my man-hands perfectly. :) That was almost a year ago now, and I’ve been in a much better mood ever since—even though I continue to wear my temporary ring on my right hand. It’s sentimental now, you know?
So that’s the end of my e-ring saga—thankfully! I’m sure for some people it would have been a far less than ideal situation, but it’s ours and it’s part of our history. And since it actually fits now, how about a few more token gratuitous bling pictures before I shut up?

Did you have to send your ring back for resizing? How did you deal with it?
