Weeping Willow

October 11th, 2010 @ 5:25 pm by Mrs. Zebra

Occasionally, very occasionally, when I go for a walk in my new neighborhood I pause at a gorgeous Weeping Willow tree. Each time I pass, I start to have small wedding fantasies about taking pictures in front of it. I have visions of quietly sharing the joy of the day with the most precious people in our lives, kissing my new husband underneath, and pressing the delicate leaves between my fingers in my wedding gown. Every time I pass this tree, the same thoughts occur to me. But, why? I began to think about why these trees appeal to me and realized that I am very attached to Weeping Willow trees. My life has literally been entwined in the branches in small ways, ways in which only I would know, but very significant ways.

One particular story involves a Willow tree, a rope swing, and a parked Jeep. Unfortunately that day did not fair well for my ankle but changed my life forever. Due to the broken leg my teacher allowed me to pick a helper, who eventually turned into my soul mate, my best friend Brittany. Our strong friendship and loyalty to each other has molded all future relationship examples. I simply am not able to allow someone into my life who can’t improve it. In short, Brittany and my friendship opened the door to fully appreciating a person like Zeb. I see the similarities in my two most influential non familial people every day. It’s astonishing.

My life would have been very different if not for that Weeping Willow tree in my Uncle’s yard, across the street from my childhood home. I shed a few tears when it fell down a few years ago. I have many happy (and one literally painful—stupid Jeep) memories amongst those vines.

Sigh, the tree will not be in bloom during our nuptials. Nor will we be anywhere near our neighborhood during the wedding. Maybe we will have an abnormally warm spring or a future anniversary shoot allowing us time with my favorite tree. Until then I will continue to drool over this wedding. Maybe it’s her statement necklace, maybe its the charm oozing from the photos or the hints of green but I think the most likely reason I can’t stop looking at this wedding is the beautiful trees.

If I could get married anywhere, it would be under a big, dramatic, beautiful tree. I’m right there with ya!

I’d love to include our university’s Old Main in our photos, but sadly it is two hours away from our wedding location. As for that wedding you pictured, I am totally in love with her necklace!

Ooooh, I looove weeping willows!! And these photos are so beautiful! Our wedding venue was naturally sentimental, since we had a backyard wedding. But I mainly commented to say that this was a beautifully written post, and I genuinely enjoyed reading it!

My favorite photos of our wedding are the ones that include the weeping willow at our venue. They are gorgeous trees.

Weeping willows are my absolute favorite trees-not that I go around looking at trees all the time or anything! I really want to go to the local park where we got engaged! We’ll probably stop by on our way to our reception and get a few pics!

It’s tough to see something so sentimental and meaningful go away, like your weeping willow. Those pictures are gorgeous.

Do you know where this Weeping Willow is? I have the same desire to get married under a Willow and this looks so perfect. :)

@epigirl08: The title of the post was Nashville Farm Wedding but I believe it was a family estate.
