Our wedding party, Mr. Turtle, and I lined up on the side of the house, ready to enter our reception! Even though we had so much fun taking pictures with Chloe, we were all ready to eat dinner and join in on the reception fun! Since we didn’t have a deejay and our “emcee” for the night was Mr. Turtle’s best man, Mr. Turtle’s Uncle Jeff announced us. I remember hearing his voice from the side of the house and thinking, “Weird, why is he announcing us?” Then I realized it was a detail I’d neglected to plan. I was so thankful to have our trusty wedding coordinator there to take care of all the little issues that came up that night! (And by the way, Uncle Jeff nailed it with the announcing!)

And finally: Us!

After we took our seats, Mr. Turtle’s dad said a prayer, thanking God for great food and friends, etc.

Wait, food? Did that catch your attention? Here’s a couple of glamour shots of our delicious dinner:

Tri Tip and Blackened Chicken Duo - Herb Marinated Tri Tip with Pico de Gallo and Blackened Chicken Breast with Fresh Pineapple Salsa
Served with Caesar Salad, Focaccia Bread, Herb Roasted Red Potatoes, and Italian Roasted Vegetables
We chose to serve the same plated entree duo to each guest. That way there was no “chicken or beef?” and no one had to be jealous of the person next to them who made the superior entree choice. I loved all of the food at our wedding so much! After the wedding, I told our catering coordinator that Mr. Turtle and I agreed that the food at our wedding was not only our favorite wedding food ever, but among our favorite food ever! And we’ve eaten a lot of food at a lot of places! Yaaaay Epic Weddings!

Anyway, our guests loved the food too. There’s not much better in life than great food with great company! Another thing I loved was our “head table.” We chose to connect two long tables that allowed us to sit with not only our wedding party, but also our parents and brothers. This choice was a little out of the ordinary, but it allowed us to spend time with our immediate family that night that we might not have experienced otherwise! There’s truly no one else I’d rather share a table with in life!

Oh! And at this point in the evening, I also put on my shrug! Remember my shrug? The one I had Holly Stalder design, using the lace from my mom’s wedding dress? Well I loved finally getting to wear it! And I promise I don’t mean to tease! I’ll post more pictures of it for sure!
Next up: Toasts and more!
What are the wedding choices you are making that might be considered a little out of the ordinary?
