Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.

Southern Weddings Love

With all the inspiration available on the web, one might think print media is on the way out.

Think again.

This beauty is my new best friend:

It the words of my co-bride, “I feel like I need a book cover for it!” It’s pure wedding gorgeousness. Seriously, it puts other mags (no naming names) to shame! So much inspiration, so much ooh and ahh, so much you won’t know won’t to do with it all!

I showed Mr. B and even he—who is stunningly anti-wedding porn—was in awe.

“Oh my,” he said when he discovered the Groom’s Fab Finds and Gallery.

He was intrigued! I kid you not! Wha? Inspiration for the bride and groom? Yes! I know it’s not just us, too. Any couple would drool over all of the fabulous details that lie within! Take all the trends, all the classic favorites, all the prettiness of weddings of our day, cram it into a booklet, and it would be called Southern Weddings Mag!

Thank you GOD for a tangible, colorful, inspiring compilation of all I want our wedding to be!

There’s no way to share all the goodies inside, but I will show you some of the details that have jumped out at me, and reaffirmed my desire to incorporate these things into our wedding. You all know how much I love the next detail!

How about y’all, do you get inspiration from wedding magazines? Which are your favorites?

I love Martha Stewart Weddings so much, it’s not even funny! And since one of my bridesmaid’s is a photo editor there, I get all the advance issues, for free to boot!

Martha Stewart is the only magazine that stands out for me, the rest seem a lot the same.

I’ve never seen Southern Weddings before though!

I still havent read a Southern Weddings magazine, but I love the blog. My two favorites are MSW and Southern New England Weddings.

OOH! I’ve never seen Southern Weddings before. MSW is clearly a favorite, I really like when Real Simple publishes their wedding special. A recent favorite was New York Magazine’s Wedding special. I nearly died, it was so perfect.

Wedding magazines are so expensive so I’ve only ever bought one, but I agree that it is so much fun to have one! Second best is wedding blogs and I used to read them all religiously (SMP, 100 Layer Cake, Once Wed, Green Wedding Shoes) but I recently deleted all of them from my Google Reader - I spent way too much time oogling what I couldn’t possibly afford instead of doing things for my own wedding!
