Accessorize!

October 12th, 2010 @ 8:39 am by Ms. Sloth

Since I’ve pretty much decided that whatever dress I get will be very, very simple and strapless with a sweetheart bustline, I’m going to need some really rad accessories to jazz it up.

This actually feels right because that’s how I roll in real life. I practically live in jeans and simple tops, and then make the outfit “mine” by throwing on a giant necklace, or a wild scarf, or big dangly earrings, or an embellished headband, or a trendy handbag, etc.

And so I’m considering this Etsy purchase, from alusciousthing:

Could you die? I could. I’m so smitten with this necklace and can’t wait to wear it with whatever gown I choose.

I originally wanted to splurge on some Manolos for under my dress, but I’m going to go with these shoes that I already own (but have never worn) that cost only $15. That’s 15 smackaroos, people! Look how pretty! Also—do they look familiar? Mrs. Sprinkle wore the same ones in yellow!

I originally wanted to wear a big fascinator with a birdcage veil and maybe some funky earrings, but that necklace is enough funky for one ensemble. So I’m probably still going to wear the veil by itself, like this, maybe?

And some small floral studs.

And that’s it, I guess. What do you think? Too much? Not enough?

What kind of accessories are you planning on wearing for your wedding? Are you going to go the dainty, traditional route, or wear something a bit more modern?

I have this problem where if I wear ANYTHING more than a pair of simple earrings, I feel like it looks too much on me. I have some beautiful jewelry I’ve been given over the years and I never wear it because it just doesn’t look right on me (I think because I’m very petite I tend to think anything large or too flashy just overwhelms me). So I can’t see myself wearing anything than some simple earrings on my wedding day, but am so jealous when I see women wearing beautiful statement pieces like these! The necklace is gorgeous; I dare say wear that and the earrings or that and the birdcage, but not all three?

Love it all! Especially the earrings! I have no idea what I will wear, I love accessories but stink at actually wearing them.

I love all three pieces….but I think they may be just a little too much all together I really adore the necklace with the birdcage veil, but I would see it with a much simpler earring……perhaps a small stud in one of those lucious pink colors….??

That necklace is fantastic! And it would have matched my bouquet oh-so-well, lol! But then that would be too much matchy matchy for sure!

I LOVE all your accessories- especially the simple veil and necklace and the shoes and the earrings. Oh right? So everything.

I would be paranoid about the earrings/necklace being too much of a set (b/c I like mismatched shit) but that’s just me! :)

Nice work! Can’t wait to see it!

TDF!!! That necklace makes me jealous my gown had a beaded neckline so I didn’t wear one! I think the whole look will totally complement your simple dress, and most importantly, sticking true to who you are even on your wedding day!

I think statement pieces are the right choice. The necklace is great! Very funky and sort of vintage vibed without being too costumey. It will be super sweet with the minimal veil.

Ooooo! You’re inspiring me. As a busty bride, I’ve been worried that wearing a statement necklace would be “too much” or draw undue attention to an already attention-grabbing area of my figure. (Especially since my dress does show a little more cleavage than I planned on) But I wear big jewelery and lots of necklaces in everyday life… So I’m having a hard time settling for a solitaire on a dainty chain. But you inspired me to go for it and get the necklace I love! And I love the pieces you have picked out. All simply beautiful! Can’t wait to see the way the necklace looks with your dress.

If you’re getting a simple dress, I think that necklace would be perfect! Your accessories are just to die for!

I LOVE that necklace! As I reading about how you wanted to accessorize I suddenly flashed back to a wedding I saw a few days ago, as the bride’s style seemed very similar to what you are going for!
