Mr. Jaguar and I have lived in London for nearly three years for me, three-and-a-half years for him: we have always been a travel-happy couple. Our very first visit to Europe together was as a pair of 19- and 21-year-olds back in 2004. We spent six glorious weeks frolicking around the continent in winter, followed by a week in England and Scotland, which cemented our love for it over here—even in the cold and dreary weather. We knew we’d come back at some point…and we did.
Our time here is quickly coming to an end. It’s been an amazing few years, but we have so much coming up to look forward to back home in Sydney, with a few travel adventures along the way. What I’d like to do in some way, if I can, is to incorporate our time spent traveling and living abroad into the wedding day in some way, shape, or form.
Since we will both be heading off on some travels over the coming weeks, I thought I would keep my eyes peeled for wedding inspiration along the way. The easiest way I can think of doing this is to incorporate souvenirs into either the table names or place settings. Even though I’m still coveting my Lumies, I would be happy to avoid the standard “Table 1,” “Table 2″ labels, and so I have been trying to think of cute ways to spice this up—the names of countries, perhaps? I don’t know. It’s an idea in my head that isn’t completely established yet.
A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to head to Paris for a few days. (Remember the awkward dancing? Yep! That was the trip!) And while checking out some souvenir stalls, I came across some hand-sketched prints of famous landmarks. I was purchasing a handful of larger-sized ones to frame and hang on our walls—and that’s when it struck me: these could be perfect!

These are just three of the sketches I bought—aren’t they fabulous?
I picked out twelve different designs in a smaller size, about the size of a large post card (for only one Euro each!) and decided they’d look really cute in little frames on each table. Mr. Jaguar liked them and all but wasn’t 100% sold: he thought it might make the wedding seem like it had a Parisian theme, which isn’t really what we’re going for. But you know, even if we don’t end up using them, I’m not worried: they’ll look gorgeous framed and placed haphazardly on a feature wall when we get back home, along with their big brothers!
I’ll be keeping an eye out for similar-sized black and white sketches while we are off traveling to see if I can find a selection of random European landmarks—and then maybe I’ll revisit this idea and see if it’s feasible.
