Our rehearsal dinner had details that rivaled our wedding reception! It could have easily been our wedding reception had we wanted a backyard style Mexican cookout wedding. In fact, I highly recommend these vendors for such an event if you’re interested in having an affair like this. It was laid back and a total blast!
Look. At. That. Meat!
Are you drooling yet? Meat that has to be cut off with a sword? Aw, you had me at meat. Tacos and Gorditas seriously rocked our world! We ordered food for 80 for under $10 per person. After several people had seconds and thirds (oh, and at least 2 cousins who had up to 5ths. No joke!), we still ended up with leftovers. It was just an amazing experience. After the not so perfect rehearsal, a quick vent with Hottie of Honor and Sis in Law, all this meat made it all okay again.
Ok, so this Senorita Margarita Machine helped a great deal too!
Side story: The Margarita Machine was self serve. It was a frozen margarita, so it looked exactly like a slushy coming from a slushy machine with really pretty and fun blue and green cupware. My little cousin, the ring bearer, served himself a full cup of the good stuff. Then a bunch of adults came running over and took it away. Poor kid had no idea why he couldn’t have any slushy and why there is such a thing as an adult-only slushy. If you’re going to have fun adult drinks, you might want to have fun kiddie drinks, too. I forgot to supply something for the kiddos.
The arrival of our double chocolate, ganache glazed with fruit accents rehearsal dinner cake by Sumi’s Oven helped to cheer me up a great deal as well. It seriously rocked in beauty and in taste! Delish to the core.
We went with the same turquoise and green color theme. And like our bridal welcome event, our VIPs came dressed to match the event. Got to love their total cuteness. Do you see the pretty plastic margarita glasses we got from Party City? I know, freaking adorable!
We rented banquet tables and wedding chairs from San Diego Party Rentals. They dropped it all off on Friday afternoon so we got to use them for both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day! Double use. I love it. I bought the white tablecloths, hurricane vases with slightly used white candles, and sand from another bride in the Weddingbee Classifieds. New Mama Hottie and Sis in Law wrapped faux flowers, tulle, and ribbon around each vase and placed it on top of a cloth napkin.
The last detail I wanted to share had to do with our venue itself, Ocean View Villas. The backdrop could not be beat. It was a beautiful sunny day with a perfect light breeze. Can you tell that our guests enjoyed the scenery, too?

Next, I’ll walk you through the events of our rehearsal dinner.
