Vintage Pretties

October 13th, 2010 @ 10:37 am by Ms. Sloth

I’m far from a graphic designer, but I do dabble a bit in Photoshop and I enjoy it. I think that I might know enough to design things like table numbers and menus myself.

So I’m going to give some of our paper goods a shot. But while I am somewhat adept at layouts, I can’t illustrate worth a damn. So how can I ensure that our escort cards, table numbers, etc. are as quirky as the rest of our wedding?

And then I came across what is now my new favorite website, Vintage Printable. This site offers vintage images that are public domain (!) and free (!!), which means that anyone can use them for whatever they like! They all have that vintage, old-timey charm that I’ve just been loving lately.

Here are some of my favorites:

Vintage Pretties : wedding decor philadelphia stationery Botanic Photobucket

Vintage Pretties : wedding decor philadelphia stationery North A Photobucket

Vintage Pretties : wedding decor philadelphia stationery La Flor Photobucket

Vintage Pretties : wedding decor philadelphia stationery Illumin Photobucket

Vintage Pretties : wedding decor philadelphia stationery Butterf02 Photobucket

Vintage Pretties : wedding decor philadelphia stationery Squid I Photobucket

Vintage Pretties : wedding decor philadelphia stationery Livres Photobucket

Vintage Pretties : wedding decor philadelphia stationery Design Photobucket

Vintage Pretties : wedding decor philadelphia stationery Hairpie Photobucket

Vintage Pretties : wedding decor philadelphia stationery Design 01 Photobucket

Would you consider using free vintage artwork in your wedding details? How would you incorporate these designs into your wedding theme?

That could be a tough choice between the fashion prints and the botanicals. Or were you going to do both? This think those will be great and really capture the feel you are going for. Plus how great is the octopus?

Anywhere you can use the squirrell and octopus are the perfect places for them because that are awesome.

Another vintage website that is free is antiqueclipart.com. I can’t wait to see how it all comes to fruition!

Those are awesome! I’m in the same boat as you (can handle layouts but can’t illustrate), and I’ve also used istockphoto.com. It’s not free, but if you’re using Illustrator, it’s good for things like frames and flourishes and whatnot.

The umbrellas are my favorite! I love your idea of designing some of your paper goods. Can’t wait to see the finished product!
