I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!

Look at What I Got in the Mail!

An invite to my own bachelorette party! I’ve never gotten an invite to a party in my honor before. Woo-hoo! Or, since it’s in Texas, yee-haw!

Look at What I Got in the Mail! : wedding bachelorette party palm springs Mybachi

My lovely sister, the MOH, sent these out and is arranging a bachelorette weekend with the other bridesmaids. Since my ladies live all over the place (three in Illinois, three all over California, one in South America), it just made sense to travel somewhere for the bachelorette. We wanted somewhere warm, centrally located, and easy and cheap to get to—and Austin it is! I’ve never been to Texas before (unless airports count), and I’m crazy excited! Like save-a-horse-ride-a-cowboy excited! OK, maybe that doesn’t make sense, but I wanted to say it. I’m going to Texas!

Any suggestions about what we should do in Austin, y’all? See, I’m breaking in my Texas accent already.

I live in Austin, and my BMs and I had my bachelorette party here in March. We had a blast - we did a wine tour in the hill country, ate BBQ at Salt Lick (very famous) and Tex-Mex, went out on 6th Street, etc. You’ll have an amazing time!

As a Texas Ex (and bride to be), who spent many years in Austin, Austin would be at the top of my list for my bachelorette. Austin is amazing!

Things to go do-
Visit the Texas State Capitol, walk along South Congress, have a drink or 2 along 4th, 5th or 6th streets, go to the LBJ Presidential Library, go to the new Blanton Art Museum, but most importantly- EAT!

Places to eat while in Austin-
Saltlick BBQ or County Line, Juan in a Million, Magnolia Cafe, Kerbey Lane, Shady Grove, Hula Hut, Hutt’s Burgers and so many other wonderful places.

Have a blast!

I don’t know if you’re into karaoke (I really really am!) but there is a great restaurant/ bar/ bowling alley/ karaoke bar. I love it because they have private rooms so you can rent them out and sing to your hearts content and the waiters will bring you drinks or food in there! All the rooms have themes and are super cute! It’s called the Highball.

I live in San Antonio (1hr South) of Austin but my fiance and I go there anytime we have a free day. You HAVE to go to Magnolia Cafe after a night of drinking for some buttermilk chocolate chip pancakes or the senorita enchiladas! It’s open 24/7.

There are soooo many cute shops on South Congress. Goody Two Shoes (tons of cute inexpensive shoes), Uncommon Objects (Antique Store), and then some other clothing stores.

While on South Congress you HAVE to get the “Michael Jackson” cupcake at hey cupcake! (heycupcake.com)

Ditto everything Monument said - I lived in Austin for 4 years and you are going to have a BLAST!! I went to a bachelorette party for my cousin on 6th Street - lots of fun since the bars are so close and you can go from one to the other. If crazy party isn’t your vibe there are some great bars on West 6th (further away from Interstate 35) or 4th/5th street as was mentioned earlier. Also, if you enjoy margaritas you should check out the Mexican Martinis at Trudy’s… yum yum :)

Not sure what there is to do in TX but the most fun I had with my bridesmaids was just a couple glasses of wine and some fun games/conversation! We went dancing which was a blast too.

I’ve lived in the great ATX now for 11 years and love it here! It’s a great place to spend some time with your favorite girls.

If you’re willing to go a little outside of Austin to the Texas Hill Country, touring all of the wineries is such a great time! I’ve done this for one bachelorette party (and countless other times for fun), and it’s always a blast.

There’s also bellydancing classes you can take that are hilariously fun. Just google bellydancing Austin and you’ll get a ton of results.

Lake Austin Spa & Resort is always a heavenly pampering experience.

There’s the classic Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar if you plan to hit up downtown. They have a good time picking out bachelorettes in the crowd.

Highball is upscale bowling, karaoke, bar, restaurant and is an awesome time (not much parking, though).

So many options! PM me if you want more suggestions. You’ll have a blast!

Yes yes, please go to Magnolia Cafe! Soooooo goooooood.

And try to hit up Kerbey Lane one day for food too.

Go shopping on South Congress (SoCo) if you have time.

I’m not a big 6th St. person, unless it’s W. 6th, (I feel too old for E. 6th), but if you’re interested in wine bars, PM me and I’ll give you the rundown of where to go in Austin.

I went to a birthday party at SpeakEasy (which IS on 6th) and it was a lot of fun because they had a cover band playing.

HAVE FUN!! I love Austin…it’s wonderful :)

I second all the suggestions for South Congress & Kerbey Lane.

For the true Texas night out experience you should go over to Rebel’s honkey-tonk on 5th, country music, two-steppin’, and a mechanical bull!

There’s also great BBQ at Stubb’s downtown (maybe some live music too) and the original Z Tejas on W. 6th! Have a blast!

Austin is my home away from Houston and the weekend retreat for me and my honey!
To do: 6th street is awesome and super chill. Austin in general is down to earth and not pretentious. look up what live music is going on on your special weekend.
A couple of my favorite places to eat include Chuys- super DELICIOUS Tex Mex with some of the best margaritas ever, and also a quirky place called The Shady Grove. It’s like a rustic cute trailor park. I second Stubb’s as a great suggestions- but seriously, start by figuring out what music is going down where!
