I've been crafty for as long as I can remember, and will DIY something twice over before I have someone do it for me. I'm a semi-awkward, typeface obsessed, design junkie and have been know to break out my dance moves for no reason as well as try my best to be ridiculous at all times. My love of pop culture, wordplay, and graph paper almost rivals my love of Mr. Giraffe (who is just the bee's knees). After a 2.5 year engagement, we're planning a modern-in-disguise traditional wedding, and cannot wait!
About Mrs. Giraffe

Totally Hip!

October 14th, 2010 @ 3:55 pm by Mrs. Giraffe

So I found this on the JL Designs blog, and I thought it was totally hip. I’ve never entertained the idea of doing something other than a floral centerpiece because I think anything else would be way too nontraditional for me, but this could totally work.

The website describes it as extreme, and I totally agree. It’s sooo edgy! I feel like these horse tails in a low vase with the yellow pincushion accent create a HUGE impact piece. I just love love love it. Mr. Giraffe isn’t too into flowers (even though I love them!) so he might be totally into this. I’ll have to ask him. Usually I’m a pretty good judge on his likes and dislikes, but I’m not too sure about this one.

Either way, love it! Word.

Is anybody doing a kind of nontraditional centerpiece?

Oh, I LOVE THIS! If I had done florals at my wedding, it would have been something striking and modern like this :-)

These are awesome! Totally would not have worked in our venue (a vintage masted ship), but in the right venue, completely striking. It would be perfect in an art gallery wedding.

very cool. I’d love to see more non-floral centerpieces around. I pretty much love everything new and different!

I thought it was asparagus at first…now that I see it’s not, I really do like it!

those are lovely. we almost went the totally non-floral route. we actually had a fair number of arrangements that were succulents and hot pepper plants. :)
