About Mrs. Jaguar

A Musical Experience

October 15th, 2010 @ 11:07 am by Mrs. Jaguar

This past week, Mr. Jaguar and I attended something that I never thought we would be lucky enough to experience: not one, but two concert gigs put on by our favourite band. Now this isn’t just any old band that we like: this is the band that brought us together. What? You haven’t read our “How It All Began“ story? Run over there, read it, and then come back to me.

WE GOT TO SEE LIFEHOUSE TOGETHER!

I am totally about to bust out of my chair with excitement.

So I have approximately 5,000 photos just like this one, only blurrier.

This is a pretty big deal for us—bands don’t tend to make their way down to Australia because it is simply too far for them to travel. So for us to get to see them twice in our last few months of living in London, well, it felt like the fates were speaking to us once again. I can’t even begin to tell you what an experience this was for us. Mr. Jaguar has been listening to recaps of the concert on his iPhone pretty much every day since the concert; the guys are just that good.

We’ve yet to decide our first dance song, but we definitely want it to be a Lifehouse number: it’s only fitting. Unfortunately our song—”Everything“—is a little long and I am scared to chop it down and ruin it. Plus a cousin of mine used it as her own first dance song, so I feel like we need something to be a little more unique. The guys rocked out to quite a few songs we’ve been deliberating between…and I think we’ve narrowed them down a little, though there are still three top contenders for the spot. Once we’ve made our minds up, I’ll let you know what we’re going with.

How did you decide on your first dance music?

AHHHH! Lifehouse is our band, too! We saw them here in NY a few years ago and it was AWESOME! I even caught the bassist’s pick…woot!

“Everything” is our song, too, but we had the same concerns about it for a first dance. We ended up using it to play during our wine and chocolate ritual during the ceremony, and I walked down the aisle to “Storm,” which now makes me cry every time I hear it ;)

Can’t wait to hear your picks!

Ahhh yeah!! Love Lifehouse. One of my good friends just moved to L.A. and rooms with a couple of guys from the band. He is a photographer and he is always posting pics of their backstage stuff on facebook. I keep telling him he needs to invite me to come and visit!! Lucky!!!!

We used “More” by Frank Sinatra - we decided this based on me grabbing my DH and making him listen to any song that caught my fancy :-)

I wanted to walk down the aisle to “Everything” but to me it seemed too self-centered. The song is a beautiful worship song. I didn’t want people to think the song was about me and without being able to explain the true meaning, people would assume it was about me.
But, oh, how beautiful and meaningful this song is.

Aww Lifehouse is our band too! We saw them in concert before we officially started dating 6 years ago, and then we saw them again last year.

FI made me a burned CD our first month or so together, and “You and Me” was a hidden track on the CD - after you let it play for 10 minutes or so, it came on at the very end.

Needless to say, it made an obvious choice for our first dance song.

“Everything” is beautiful too - We consider this one of our songs, but it was too long for our first dance, and we aren’t using any contemporary music in our ceremony.

I’m actually going to see Lifehouse tonight! =) it’ll be my 6th time seeing them & I can’t wait! I agree with you, don’t chop down “Everything”, you def wouldn’t want that song to lose anything (also one of my favorites!)

what songs by them are you thinking of using?

We love lifehouse! Though we don’t official have a band, or song for that matter, lifehouse would totally be the Crol & Galatea unofficial band. Crol gave me a lifehouse cd around the same time we met, a year before we started dating. Since then they have been the soundtrack to our life together. What about “hanging by a moment” for a dance song? Or “take me away” maybe

I LOVE Lifehouse. My fave song ever is “Everything” and will be in our reception SOMEHOW. :) I think “You and Me” is another good one too.

Our first dance song was “our” song when we first started dating. So it felt right to use it.
