I can’t even tell you how I decided on my wedding colours. They just…happened. When I got engaged, the first thing people asked was WHEN ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED? WHERE WILL IT BE? HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE COMING? These questions were closely followed by HAVE YOU GOT YOUR DRESS YET? WHAT COLOUR DRESSES ARE YOUR GIRLS WEARING? and WHAT COLOUR UNDERWEAR ARE YOU WEARING?
OK, maybe not that last one. But definitely everything else. People seem to lose their filter from brain to mouth when they hear about weddings! My married friends tell me it just gets worse after the wedding…then come the child-related questions. Joy of joys!
Anyway, one day I just woke up and I knew what I wanted. And that was back in August of last year. The fact that I’m still in love with my colour scheme over a year later is a pretty good sign that it was meant to be…so I’m sticking with it. Our colours are going to be shades of grey*, green, and ivory. Here they are on a nifty little palette for you to admire:

The whitish shade is a little hard to see, but you get the idea. Now these colours aren’t exact matches—but they’re fairly close. The green is a soft, sage shade, the grey is more of a charcoal or slate shade, and the white/ivory is just an accent. I made my cute little colour palette with Paint, but there are plenty of great websites out there that are so clever. I particularly like this one, where you post an image and it draws out all the prominent colours within it. Very useful!
The girls are going to be wearing grey bridesmaids dresses. The guys are going to look smooth with either suits, ties, or vests with the grey accent. (Mr. Jaguar still needs to make a decision for the boys!) The flowers are going to be predominantly green and white. Most other “decorations” will be in one of the three shades, or somewhat close to them at least. Silver may be substituted for grey every now and then, but it’ll still be somewhat matching. I can’t wait to see it all come together—I have this image in my head of what it will look like, but here are a few of my favourite pictures for inspiration.

These are so, so beautiful—I like the colours and the random greenery inside them. I prefer natural stems rather than completely wrapped bouquets, too.

I love this boutonnière: so simple and not too frilly for the lads.

I love this shade of grey—just use your imagination and pretend that the bouquets are more green/white rather than yellow, and you’ve got it!
So those are the colours for the Jaguar wedding—it’ll be interesting to see how our choices pan out once dresses are bought, flowers are hunted down, and all that jazz.
*Dear hive, please don’t think I’m a terrible speller: it’s British English, not me!
