Hola hive! I just got in from dinner with Mrs. Ant, Mrs. Trail Mix, Mrs. Hamster, Mrs. Caramel, and Mrs. D’orsay! It’s around 1AM and I’ve got a load of blogging to do tonight to cover Bridal Market for the hive while I’m out at shows tomorrow, but first, I wanted to bring you along with me to Saturday at market!
10 AM - After a breakfast burrito with Mrs. D’orsay, I’m dressed and ready to go. I went with a J.Crew dress/flower belt with a cream Anthro sweater and some knee high boots. NYC is cold so I’ve got all the extremities covered!

10:45 AM - We hop a cab and review our day. I’ve mapped out each venue’s cross street and distance to the following show so that we know whether we can walk it or take a cab. We have shows scheduled every hour through the day so there’s no time for dilly-dallying or… eating (boo!).

First up, Christos at EZ Studios!

12 Noon - We check in and I find my seat. It’s easy for me to check in because I have the seemingly longest name in recorded bridal show attendance history.

Checking in with Fashion Editor Juli Alvarez. We discuss what we liked/didn’t like from the day before (for me, I loved Kevan Hall!) while we wait for the show to start.

Darcy Miller from Martha Stewart Weddings rocks the 5 inch heels because she is a wonder woman rock star!

Checking out the run of show: the list of dress names and descriptions. I’ve got my phone out, ready to live tweet the show! Follow me this weekend on Twitter @weddingbee, and follow everyone at market at the hashtag #bridalmarket.

The photographer pool. Most major publications bring pro photogs to each show with them for their galleries, print, and blogs. The photogs jockey for the best positions for shooting and yell at the front row to uncross their legs, and yell at the models if they don’t pose long enough for come close enough to the cameras. It’s a stressful job and they only get one go-round at each show, so the pressure’s on to get a good spot and good shots!

House lights down. The show is on!

After the show, Jeannie from Project Wedding immediately grabs some photos from the photogs to blog on Project Wedding’s One Lovely Day blog. Check it out all this weekend for almost instantaneous updates from the shows!

The next show is in the same venue so we all get up, stretch, and mingle.
I finally connected in person with Lara Casey, Editor in Chief of Southern Weddings Magazine! As I was linking to Southern Weddings Magazine, I noticed a familiar picture in their header… why, yes! It’s Mr. Penguin’s gift to me, a blue topaz ring, on our wedding day in the 3rd picture shot on our wedding day in my parents’ backyard! My little ring is famous!

1 PM - Kenneth Pool begins.

Check out a snippet of video from my camera!

Each show lasts about 20 minutes. After the show, we jet off to the Alvin Alley Theater for the Rivini show.

2 PM - Open seating at this show, and I’m with Mrs. D’orsay for this one! Where to sit? How about with Christy Weber from Junebug Weddings, Vane Broussard from Brooklyn Bride, and Amanda Nistor from Ruffled? (Wow, I just typed their names from memory and spelled every one right. +10 points.)

Everyone getting seated. Because this one is set in a theater it has creative seating with multiple aisles.

The show is on! Check out Amanda from Ruffled tweeting from her iPhone.

3 PM - And it’s off to Claire Pettibone!

Settling into my seat, across from Randy Fenoli from Say Yes to the Dress. Hi Randy!

Fairies served absinthe drinks before the show, and flitted backstage when it was time for the show to start…

Claire Pettibone’s run of show…sparkly paper…

I had a fun seat smack in the middle aisle, front row, so I had a great view of all angles of the dresses! We got lucky today and had all front row seats… it’s really hard to take pictures from the 2nd and 3rd rows to tweet and blog.

4 PM - Annnnd… back to EZ Studios! (It was a big EZ studios day.) Amsale Aberra’s daughter was on hand to cheer on her mom at the Amsale show.

Float, float on…

Massive applause for the designer!

5 PM - I head back to the hotel, download the pictures our photogs have sent us, and blog my butt off for a few hours before heading out to dinner with the bees.
3 AM, Sunday morning - I have 2 more shows to write up tonight before bed. and I’m out to the first show at 11AM so hopefully I get a few winks before we do it all again tomorrow. Monique Lhuillier, Anne Barge, Douglas Hannant, St. Pucchi, and Junko Yoshioka, here we come!
I hope you liked a little peek into yesterday (it’s officially yesterday now as I write this) at Bridal Market!
