About Mrs. Meerkat

I love vintage Hollywood glamour, which is why my dress and my girls’ dresses all have that hint of Hollywood-glamour-meets-rock-star going on. So when I went to find jewelry, I wanted something that this lady right here would have loved to wear:

I love Ingrid Burgman’s style. Classy yet bold. I spent a long time looking for jewelry that fit that criterion, but with all the detail going on in my dress it also had to be simple. When I saw this photo on Overstock, I knew this was what I was looking for:

There were two problems though—it cost too much $$ and was way too green. So, I put an alchemy request out on Etsy for a similar necklace with a clear stone and a thinner chain. I got UBER lucky and Launa from Looking Glass Silver told me she could do it with no problems. I was a little worried ordering from another country, but SHE DID A FANTASTIC JOB!!!

I was floored by the quality of the necklace. It was exactly what I wanted. Simple, yet bold at the same time.

With the necklace bought and my ears not being pierced, the only piece of jewelry left (if I want one, I’m still not sure) is a bracelet. I was thinking about starting a Pandora bracelet from Medawar Jewelers:

If you have never seen a Pandora bracelet, it’s one where you can pick out different “charms” to put on it. They have all different kinds to signify different events in your life including a nice selection of wedding charms.

On their site they have a screen to design your own, and here is what I came up with:

I could start out simple with this “wedding ring inside a heart” charm and then I could add new charms for special occasions like anniversaries, etc.

What do you think? Get a bracelet, or go with just a necklace?

I love the necklace! Have you ever thought about clip-ons? They have some really cute ones now!

@Mrs. Frozen Yogurt: I found a tutorial on how to change any standard earrings into clip-ons so maybe if I find a really cute pair I might give it a shot. ;)

Oh my, that necklace is classy! Very classic, yet still modern.

The bracelet looks like the other half to a matching set!
Personally, though, I would go with clip-on earrings as Mrs. Fro-Yo suggested, or a bracelet with more contrast in style.
But that may just be my eclectic insanity speaking.

@Ms. Anemone: I am with you on the contast thing. I have never been one for matchy-matchy stuff. I have actually been looking at a bangle version of the Pandora bracelet for my girls but now you have me thinking maybe I want the bangle version too, hmmm….

It’s all so pretty! I am also looking for vintage/antique style jewelry. I want pearls on the necklace and earrings, but it’s hard to find what’s just right. Looking forward to seeing your jewelry with the dress!
